A resident swallow in the country often sighted in the countryside continuously gliding close to water bodies and around puddles on dirt roads. They are also the most common swallows to see at eye level, the others like the the Barn swallows and the Streak Throated Swallows are bit tough to get that level.
The birds often nest under road drains, bridges or culverts. They swoop wet mud from wet areas and then build their nest in a laborious process.
During my Himalayan trip , I found a small flock of these birds picking up mud next to a small hand pump in a muddy patch. They were making multiple trips in building their nests. I wondered where they are setting up their nests for a while and finally found the answer. The birds were laying nests in the roof corners of shops in the area. And the shopkeepers did not mind the nests and Swallows inside their nests much to my delight. The ceiling is only like 8 feet in most places (to keep the heat at ground level) and they don't use fans due to the cold.

The Swing Bridge (foreground) is built on the site of a series of earlier wooden and stone bridges. Although it is reputed to be the site of a Roman crossing, the earliest record of a bridge here is 1250. The Swing Bridge opened in 1876 and was designed and paid for by the industrialist William Armstrong. The bridge can rotate through 360 degrees and Armstrong's original mechanism is still used to open and close the bridge today.
The High Level Bridge (background) is a dual rail and road bridge across the Tyne designed by Robert Stephenson to link the developing English railway network to Scotland. The bridge is built on five piers of locally quarried stone, each 15m thick and 5m wide, supporting cast iron sections; the upper level of the railway bridge stands 37 m above the Tyne's high water mark. The rail bridge was opened in 1849 by Queen Victoria, and the road bridge was opened in 1850.

Lake Landro 20210922
Lake Landro in Val Pusteria is located in Val di Landro at about 1,400 m above sea level, not far from Lake Dobbiaco, and can be reached from both Dobbiaco and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
From Lake Landro, on the border between the Tre Cime di Lavaredo Nature Park and the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park, you can enjoy an incredible view of the Cristallo group, which is wonderfully reflected in the lake, especially in the morning.

Infamous for bringing heavy precipitation and storms, cumulonimbus clouds are huge clouds that can spread between the differing levels of the troposphere, towering up into very high altitudes (you can’t really miss them). Their tops seem to resemble an anvil.

While I did not get a chance to get inside the park and do the scenic drive at Red Rock Canyon NCA, the viewpoint on Red Rock Canyon Road provided some expansive views of the Mountains that make the area special. I am not a geologist by any means, but even I could see the different types of rock formations as you scan the mountains. The moment I got here, I knew I wanted to take a panorama shot and didn’t even bother with my wide lenses and only took the 70-200 with meI ended up taking this image by stitching together around 7 or 8 pictures at 70mm. While I wanted to go even more tele, shooting at 70mm was the only way to include the clouds to the frame.
One interesting dilemma I faced at this location was keeping the frame level. Generally, I am a stickler for keeping the horizon level and going through pains to get the image leveled correctly. I also did that here, but when I stitched them together, they looked off so much that it bothered me. So I went back to google maps and looked at these rocks and realized that my images were indeed level, but the rock formations and their horizontal streaks mess with the eyes when you see it in a panorama image. So reluctantly, I had to rotate the image around 4-5 degrees to make it look more natural. I have to say this was the first time I have done something like this, and it felt weird.

One cold spell this last December produced some ice formations on the stream of our property. This particular one is of a kind not too common for most chilly seasons as the water level had gradually receded during the few cold days.

Looking out over the levels at east lyng and apparently the depth of the waters here is over three meters deep in places.
Peckham Levels is a cultural events venue transformed from a multi-storey car park on Rye lane, Peckham. The entrance is in a colourful alley at the back.
