Taking Liz Steel's SketchingNow Watercolor Class. Lots of diagrams of water in brushes, pigment floating in water, etc. Great class. Lesson 1: Trying to mix Juicy Washes. Trying to control amount of water in the brush. I painted this directly without sketching first. Added ate pencil table line after.
Testing color mixes. I always know I should do these, but never do and wind up trying to figure it out on the fly. Glad for the push to do it!
A new travel palette by expeditionary art and loaded with Liz Steel colors. For Lesson 6 and continuation of Lesson 1.
I felt like I was in my element for this drawing. Yes, it's wonky. Yes, there are a lot of mistakes, some of which I corrected. But at the moment, I'm practicing being loose in my drawing. I enjoy watching myself and observing how I could improve.
Colour changes.
War memorial. I found sketching out the plane changes a lot more easier than doing the colour changes in this exercise. I messed up the front of the pillar by putting detail into it and also doing it a bit wrong.

Manual mode; I exposed by getting close to my daughter's cheek using spot metering, and then I backed up, re-focused, and took the shot without changing the exposure.
Sketching Now Foundations #lesson1
The first page of my Sketchbook. I had a nice spiral bound sketchbook, but I found out that using watercolour on its paper would be a pain.
This is a Stilman & Birns alpha which I bought a while ago. I never used it because I considered it "too precious" for my skills. I wanted to start it when I would draw good enough... ;-)
The Caran D'Ache pencils have been in a set. They are not necessarily the colours I would have chosen, but I wanted to try them. But my local art supply dealer sells Derwent watercolour pencils and I also love them. So the Derwent pencils are the colours I added.
Carla Sonheim's Gelli Plate Plus online class - Lesson 1 Painterly Monotypes: Masking. Print 2a web. Other media added - pastels, watercolor, charcoal, graphite, colored pencil
I struggled with the continuous line, this drawing consists of 4 continuous lines. Nontheless I had a lot of fun and am quite satisfied with the end result.
I need to change out some of my paints in my travel palette, but have way too many to choose from! Hopefully, I will narrow it down as I progress!

I must say that at some point I didn't understand the diference between shade and shape perhaps because the shade in this building was very strong.
The shape is really wrong.
