Pencil of my two objects.

When drawing this I had to fight the urge to do hairy hesitant lines. I really wanted to get the shapes correct. I was aware of it and managed to continue with confident lines.

I like the outcome with this watercolour pencil, but prefer to draw in ink... I find I get on with it and am more confident.

This was the 2nd attempt. Realized that foreground colors needed to be clear and background, faded, to give clear indication of planes

I'm fairly happy with these sketches. The shadows are all a little wrong.

Since I wanted to sketch my freshly cleaned water color paint box, I used water color pencils for coloring, which are quite new to me. The green perfect pencil cap turned out to be most challenging. I put brown on top of solubilized green and that may not have been a clever choice.

This third sketch was done in three passes of watercolor - light tan color first, then middle tone, and then darkest. I didn't wait long enough for the paint to dry between washes. I was sitting in the shade and the morning was cool. So, the largest window bled into the surrounding lights. I added the watercolour at home, as I had been sitting in the graveyard working so long on the other exercises I could hardly move. I am pleased it looks reasonably like the actual church.

I sat in the car in a carpark across the road from this hidden gem. I noticed it for the first time today as i was driving to the gym. Such and interesting looking building

from a great original by nemres"project", that was untitled.

I liked this photo very much. I selected the subject using the pen tool, lasso will work too. I added a light effect on several layers to break up the green wall some, and hide the ceiling. I added a rippled sand scene that had the dune line the same as the floor and wall seam. I adjust that photo with the distort function to make it fit. I used a couple layers as multipliers to try and hold the shadow and hair.

Thanks nemres"project" for letting me work on your awesome photo!

The final sketch of Manly Church for #lesson1 #lesson1manly

I felt like I rushed some parts of this but over all I'm happy with what I've produced. All the exercises we did leading up to this were so helpful for getting to know this building. I'm usually tempted just to dive in with a pen and then I don't always explore the angles and shapes as well as I could.

Abstract neon art outside the bus tunnel entrance across from the Paramount, downtown Seattle.

Pen and solid spot colour of two objects.

My drawing didn't fit on the page, and I need more practise with drawing cups and teapots but I enjoyed the exercise.

Like a lot of you I had to fight hard not to add more colour!

I loved this exercise, and I'm happy with the result of this sketch. A bit wonky, but that seems to be my style :)

#lesson1 light and dark

I normally don't use pencils, and I find it uneasy to draw over the pencil lines. And I'm not sure I got the each volumes correctly. Need to repeat.

#lesson1

Again having problems with proper shadows (let alone perspective of the lid). Since Tipp Ex tape is part of Jens Hübners sketch kit, I thought I might give it a go. (He might use it for something else entirely...) I corrected the shadow underneath the lid with it, which was too large, previously. Turns out okay. Test showed, water colors on top of tipp ex are much different from those on paper.

Taking Liz Steel's SketchingNow Watercolor Class. Lots of diagrams of water in brushes, pigment floating in water, etc. Great class. Lesson 1: Trying to mix Juicy Washes. Trying to control amount of water in the brush. I painted this directly without sketching first. Added ate pencil table line after.

Testing color mixes. I always know I should do these, but never do and wind up trying to figure it out on the fly. Glad for the push to do it!

SkN buildings Lesson 1

A new travel palette by expeditionary art and loaded with Liz Steel colors. For Lesson 6 and continuation of Lesson 1.

I felt like I was in my element for this drawing. Yes, it's wonky. Yes, there are a lot of mistakes, some of which I corrected. But at the moment, I'm practicing being loose in my drawing. I enjoy watching myself and observing how I could improve.
