As summer is approaching, don’t forget to keep those brains going. Learning can happen everywhere and at any time. We don’t just learn at school, in fact we started learning the moment that we are born. As our children are home for the summer, use this time to learn something new. Their brains ar...
Literature Camp is a four-day, three-night career exploration experience being held June 26-29, where students and faculty will investigate the theme of "The Roaring 20s!" Students will join the Misericordia English faculty as they explore this exciting literary epoch through literature, popular culture, film, drama, and music. In addition, students will tap into their creative juices as they conduct writing and theatrical workshops. Professional writing exercises will also be on tap. Camp participants will also interact with current English majors who will serve as camp counselors. The camp is designed only for students entering the 12th grade in fall 2022, with no cost to a camp participant with an overnight component.
Seen at the British Wildlife Centre, Newchapel, Surrey. Not yet as confident as his brother, 'Jake' was finally enticed out to pose for the photographer. Having the Keeper's talk in the adjacent enclosure probably helped!
"Learning Fountain" by Georgia Gerber, part of the Douglas Avenue Sculpture Collection. Built in 2000 and is made of bronze. It depicts a boy pouring water from his cup into the girl's cup.
ironicly "learning to fly" by tom petty is playing on the radio.
I am not sure what type of gull this is.
I think it is a glaucous-winged gull. but it could be a thayer's gull.
Children are having a ROCKING great time at Tot Time – Bugs Rock at the Avondale Regional Branch Library. They're learning about bugs, making mosquito headbands, painting plaster of paris bugs, and observing real bugs in jars: snails, roly-polies, millipedes, earthworms, and crickets!

My latest obsession has been learning to use some of my manual settings on my camera in an effort to learn to get the bokeh effect (in-focus subject, blurred background). I think I'm FINALLY getting it. Viewing the exif data for pictures on flickr has helped a lot.
This is the lava lamp I got in my stocking from my mom. I love it way more than I should but I'm a dork that way.
I had the privilege of being able to stand on the sidelines and take pictures of the Lee County HS girl's soccer team (on which my daughter is the assistant coach). Although the quality of these photos is not the greatest (night game, "low shutter speed"), they can serve the purpose to help educate minor details to help the girls play a more fulfilling match.
A keeper confident in her ability to boot the ball out of the area is good thing. Note the defender next to the keeper. My preference is that if the keeper is booting the ball out that strongly, all defenders should be sprinting upfield to get numbers up and leave the opposing team in an offsides position.

Student focuses on information skills demonstrated by librarian. Having the patron's chair on the same side of the desk as the librarian increases rapport and transforms this into a true learning encounter rather than an impersonal information transaction.
"Sometimes learning to fly means learning to let go."
I think this was probably inspired by the artwork of the new Advisory Circle album, As The Crow Flies .
I suppose the text sounds a bit new agey platitudey, but I keep thinking about fear, and how it makes you hold onto things or ideas or situations which probably aren't best for you, but at least they feel familiar, therefore there is a level of comfort or perceived safety.
And it's terrifying, if you have grasped hold of something, a port in a storm, a branch at the edge of a cliff, the idea that you have to eventually let go and trust that something or someone will catch you. But if you don't, you end up stuck.

'Run and tell all of the angels
This could take all night
Think I need a devil to help me
Get things right
Hook me up a new revolution
Cos this one is a lie
We sat around laughing
And watch the last one die
Im looking to the sky to save me
Looking for a sign of life
Looking for something help me burn out bright
Im looking for complications
Looking cos Im tired of trying
Make my way back home
When I learn to fly' - Dave Grohl
I used the numbers left over from my Alpha-Numberic Applique fabric (at Spoonflower) to make some fun beanbags for my boys. I sewed buttons on the back to correspond with the numbers.
walking down an alleyway behind some apartments we came across this man teaching his wife how to ride a bicycle. He was doing all the work as she couldn't go straight or stay upright unless he held on the back of the bicycle and ran along with her. He was her set of "training wheels"
Archer is having trouble with stairs now, so we are teaching an old dog a new trick. With the assistance of a LOT of treats he is learning to walk on a ramp. He will use the ramp both to get from the house to the yard and to get into and out of the car, so it is important that he is comfortable with it.
