Cross section through a Ficus leaf, seen at approximately 100x magnification. Ficus leaves have sunken stomates, meaning that their guard cells are not on the outer surface of the leaf, but instead embedded a few cell layers inside the leaf.
Spent yesterday morning at the Huntington Gardens with a macro lens to see what I could capture. Decided to try to capture close-up textures.
The same leaf as the previous one but in this case taken from the other side. The sun behind me. Same Orestor. But I forgot to use the flash and the colors on the leaf became rather dull. A little post processing was needed. The Exif is incorrect also.
