Cross section through a Ficus leaf, seen at approximately 100x magnification. Ficus leaves have sunken stomates, meaning that their guard cells are not on the outer surface of the leaf, but instead embedded a few cell layers inside the leaf.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Spent yesterday morning at the Huntington Gardens with a macro lens to see what I could capture. Decided to try to capture close-up textures.

Looking at the sun through a begonia leaf

The same leaf as the previous one but in this case taken from the other side. The sun behind me. Same Orestor. But I forgot to use the flash and the colors on the leaf became rather dull. A little post processing was needed. The Exif is incorrect also.

Taken in a lush and varied garden on Molokai, Hawaii.

Look at the leaf. He He He.

Please leave any comments or questions on my photos.

Thanks.

This shot is the result of reverse mounting a Minolta 50mm f/1.7 lens on my 5D.

In between the camera and lens was a Canon to Pentax mount converter attached to a Pentax mount to 49mm reverse mount adapter. Complicated, but fun...

The edge of a laurel leaf using my lens baby.

Using the Macro Lens

Collage using a photocopied visual diary page.

I really love the form and colors on this leaf.
