Leaves beginning to turn

A fallen red leaf lodged on an old tree stump. Yellowwood State Forest, Indiana, Fall 2020.

Loving the new Sigma 18-200. One of the things I hadn't really realised is that the extra zoom is good for macro shots.

Im looking forwards to travelling to the snow over the holidays; should put the new lens through its paces.

The edge of the leaf blade is called the leaf margin. Intramarginal veins occur just inside the leaf margin and run parallel to the margin. They can sometimes be very obvious but you usually have to look quite closely to see them.

With some leaves, it’s the fine structure I like. With this one however, the subtle colour gradient is just as nice.
