This is probably the largest leaf to have come from our fruitless mulberry tree all year. It's a great shade tree, but it sure drops a lot of leaves this time of year.
Strobist info: I wanted to show the patterns and veins in the leaf so I backlit it by hanging it in front of a 24 inch softbox containing a YN560. The flash was in manual mode at 1/4 power and was triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N trigger.
Because I've taken so many leaf pictures, I finally created an album where they can all hang out together. If you like that sort of thing you might not hate my Leaves album. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157649845311287/
Other plants, flowers, or fruit that I've photographed using strobes can be seen in my Strobe Lit Plant set. In the description for that set, I list resources that I've used to learn how to light with off camera flash. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157628079460544/...
This looks best when viewed large against a black background, and you can see it in that enlightened manner by pressing "L".
a wonderful weekend !!!!!!!!
I really can't stay
Baby, it's cold outside
I've got to go away
But baby, it's cold outside
This evening has been
Been hoping that you'd drop in
So very nice
I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice
My mother will start to worry
Beautiful, what's your hurry?
My father will be pacing the floor
Listen to that fireplace roar...................

I love the woods but I'm embarrassingly bad with names of trees so if anyone can name this leaf I would be grateful :)
Another "treasure" from a shoot the other day at the San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas, California. It's amazing what a difference backlighting makes in the appearance of something translucent like a leaf. I guess that over the past 15 years I have taken literally thousands of pictures of these natural wonders. I'm sure there's a group somewhere to help people like me get over this addiction.

Seicercus sarasinorum.
This is a recent split from Sulawesi Leaf Warbler (S. nesophilus), based on a range of plumage and vocal differences - the most obvious of which to me was the presence of an indistinct central crown stripe on this Lompobattang Leaf Warbler which is not found on the Sulawesi Leaf Warblers that we saw.
Although not a great photo, this bird has a very small range and has probably not been seen by that many Western birders...
