Dahlias were named in honor of Swedish botanist Anders Dahl. They grow naturally in climates which do not experience frost. Dahlias are bushy, tuberous, herbaceous perennial plants native to Mexico, Central America, and Colombia.

The family Phylliidae (often misspelled 'Phyllidae') contains the extant true leaf insects or walking leaves, which include some of the most remarkable leaf mimics in the entire animal kingdom. They occur from South Asia through Southeast Asia to Australia. There are different views about their taxonomy.

Bel/Bael leaf is used in the worship of Lord Shiva, who is said to favor the leaves. The tri-foliate form of leaves symbolize the trident that Shiva holds in his right hand.

Pretty amazing how this leaf managed to hang in there through all the winter storms - a lot like us.
The f4 version of this 70-200 zoom focuses close enough to capture decent close ups. It lacks the contrast of a real macro lens but that can be made up for a bit in editing. Thank you for your very kind visits and comments my friends! :)
