I have been away from painting and music for a bit. I have the beginnings of a new painting that's been in my head for months. When I'm finished, it will go over the fireplace. A canvas becomes a piece of art in layers, like people. This is the deck off my music studio/room where I have spent many hours listening to the sounds of the birds in the morning or music I am in the middle of writing. Pandora was usually with me. In the warmer months I would leave the door open all the time so she could go out and sit on the bed here where sometimes I sleep.

The Flat layers near the top are sediment that dropped out of the underwater landslide first. The grain size is coarser there and get finer towards the bottom of the layer. All this shows that these layers have been turned over down in the subduction zone.
