Layers for me always makes me think of Photoshop, each layer has its own charm and colour, it’s a great theme, as there are endless things to choose from, as evident from the amazing images in the group...

Taken from inside the restaurant looking both inside and outside of the window.

While I enjoy and am used to travelling alone and on public transit, it is very nice to meet up with friends and have access to a car too.

Buffalo is well-known for its famous Buffalo [chicken] wings, so I was delighted that Eridony (Brandon) suggested that we dine at Duff's Famous Wings on the last evening of our trip.

This is one of our anniversary trips a number of years back. Behind me is the Admiralty Head Lighthouse. This is taken from Fort Casey Historical State Park in Washington State, located on Whidbey Island. This, of course, is looking out over Puget Sound. I just love the clouds...and the many layers of hills or mountains. So pretty, even on a cloudy day! Hope y'all enjoy!

Another card for the Hero Arts March challenge (Layered Background theme). This is a one-layer card except for the button, twine and pearls. The grass was white embossed on watercolour paper and the background was done using my acrylic block and Old Paper ink in the middle and Crushed Olive ink on the edges. Both the background and the flower was misted with pearlarized water. The background was overstamped with Old Letter Writing. The flower was inked with Rusty Hinge, Wild Honey, Peeled Paint and Shabby Shutters. TFL!!

Supplies: Earth Flowers (CL428), Watercolor Petals (CL431), Find Joy (CL497), Old Letter Writing (S4878); Distress Ink: Old Paper, Crushed Olive, Peeled Paint, Shabby Shutters, Rusty Hinge, Wild Honey; twine; button, pearls.

After the death of my Aunt Barney, my Uncle Doc gave me her car. This car has enabled me to work two jobs and to travel extensively. I always found it comforting that his former hospital parking sticker was still on the car. Today I found that sticker laying on my car seat. It had finally fallen off like a tiny leaf after a long, long time. Finding it there was bittersweet. It's one element that still connected the car to them. My uncle has since passed away as well. This car is the last gift I ever received from them. I'll miss this sticker being on the glass, but I'm keeping it in a special place.

I look at this and wonder how many years of history is represented between each layer in this rock.

driving down a highway

the year is 2014,

listening to music from

1985 that I used to play

in my 1973 mustang

traveling along in

some sort of

emotional time machine

thinking of all the

years

people

thoughts

feelings

words

deaths

cities

and memories

all layered

one upon the other-

all contained within me

I become aware of an oppressive weight

bearing

down

on

me

it is difficult to breathe,

things shift out of focus

and I wonder if this is

what a heart attack feels like

I roll down the windows

speed up

and let all that old junk

flutter from my fingers

like confetti

You know, years ago I joined a Dancercise group. But it didn't take long for me to realize it wasn't really my thing. But what to do with the dance tights I bought?? No problem....I'm a veritable expert at repurposing specialty items. Two legs = two hoods! 😉

This is layer two for Daisy, and I think it will do fine as a base. Now...where did I put that pesky vet wrap?? 😜

when I posted this image in some groups on facebook, many friends spoke of the tall guy and his shadow...but to me his just one element in this image,to me it works because there are five elements in five different planes...

Without sea stacks or even coastal rocks to fill the foreground, it was time to go scouting. Lines in the sand left after a rainy day reminded me of layer cake at Heceta Beach, Oregon

Multiple layers of limestone karst peaks in the enchanting Li River area between Guilin and Yangshuo. This is taken from the Lao Zhai mountain, shortly after sunset on a hazy day. A bit challenging to climb but well worth it!
