Just like my Faded Desert, this Kyori had the most lopsided hair! Ugh it was killing my OCD so snip snip I went! If she was a real person, all o did was add some layers and take off like 3inches, I'm also recurling her hair

Well, hopefully you would agree that the clouds have a layered look to them! Regardless, we have had a beautiful sunny day!

"Layered Reflections:" These interesting columns of rock in a remote area outside of Sedona stand in a deep reflecting pool along Pumphouse Wash and show the many layers of deposit and erosion that occurred over time.

Just a short 4 miles from our home in Fruita, CO, one can enter the Colorado National Monument ... which offers plateau and canyon views, rich in red rock formations and pinion/juniper forests. It's one of the things that I fell in love with when we were buying a home out here. Very symbolic of the American west, the landscape is amazing and the views of the lower high desert valley is remarkable. Of course, the desert bighorn sheep, variety of birds, and really cool lizards (which I hope to photograph soon), are just an added bonus. :-)

For those who have not done so yet, take a moment to check out the recent blog post which features more from the Monument. Click the link:

Ceiling at Queen Victoria Building, Sydney, Australia

Since moving here, this building has been one of my favourites in town because of its beautiful architectural details and English influence. It has a very historic feel, which you don't get too much of in a young country like Australia. Coming from Europe, this always reminds me a bit of home.

Every generation of believers faces the risk of becoming a prisoner to its own myopic vision of the Christian faith, assuming that how it understands and practices faith is always the best. C. S. Lewis cited this problem as a reason for reading old books. “None of us,” he wrote, “can fully escape this blindness, but we shall certainly increase it, and weaken our guard against it, if we read only modern books,” for modern books (as well as the ideas and practices they convey) only tell us what we already know and thus reinforce our blind spots and prejudices. “The only palliative is to keep the clean sea breeze of the centuries blowing through our minds, and this can be done only by reading old books.” Of course people from the past did not get everything right. “People were no cleverer then than they are now; they made as many mistakes as we. But not the same mistakes.” Their successes will teach us; their failures will warn us. “Two heads are better than one, not because either is infallible, but because they are unlikely to go wrong in the same direction.” (in, Sittser, Water from a Deep Well, 18).

I have stumbled upon the remains of an ancient desert dessert created by the ultimate confectioner, Mother Nature, herself. What a feast it must have been!

Cinnamon crunch with emphasis on the crunch.

This photo was taken by an Asahi Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera and Super-Multi-Coated Takumar/6X7 1:4.5/75 lens with a Zenza Bronica 82mm L 1A filter using Fuji 160NS film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Love the layers of petals on these flowers.

Layers! Ogres have them. Deserts have them. In this case the harder stony layer on top protected the sandier striped layers beneath until the sand had eroded so much, the harder layer of rock began to break down and roll to the bottom of the striped hills.
