The wild waves of the westcoast. Never know what they are gonna do. I captured these ones all over the place in one spot!... Thanks to my friends zoom lens. Man I love that zoom lens. Layers of Waves IMG_0684
Taking you back to the Slovenian Alps in September 2017, this image was taken at sunset on the border of Slovenia & Italy. Beautiful contrast & layers. This is available in my print store on my website.

Vermilion Cliffs National Monument
Arizona
March 2025
White Pocket, tucked within Vermilion Cliffs National Monument in northern Arizona, is a hidden gem of swirling sandstone, otherworldly rock formations, and vibrant colors. Its landscape—a mesmerizing blend of white, red, and orange sandstone—has been sculpted into domes, ridges, and brain-like textures over time. Adventurers are drawn to its alien beauty, where each turn reveals a new geological marvel. Its remote isolation enhances the mystique.

Layers of green slowly fade into a blue haze – obviously, a warm, sunny spring day. Finally!
Taken with an ancient Konica Minolta Dynax 7D digital camera and even older Minolta AF Zoom 35–105mm F3.5–4.5 lens. Cropped to cinematic aspect ratio.
The appearance of the mountains on that day was a layer of light colors. Mt. Fuji was beautiful, but I felt that it might not be recognized as a photo.
A golden sunset in the Pacific Northwest. The fog lingered around the mountains just long enough for the camera to pickup the different layers of the mountains.
For 'Macro Mondays' theme of 'Layer'.
Just a small white paper serviette stuck into the neck of a bottle.
Nothing complicated, a case of KISS - 'Keep It Simple Stupid'
I did try a stack of plates with a red serviette, and I did try a red serviette in the neck of the bottle, but didn't like the results.

A mid-winter view due south from the summit of Rippon Tor, captured at 260 mm and about ten minutes before the sun disappeared below the horizon. To give a sense of scale, the town of Ashburton, visible in the distance to the left, is about 10 km away. Thanks for looking.

Layers of sand dunes lead toward barren desert mountains, Death Valley National Park.
Death Valley is often a beautiful place, but there are places in this landscape that can appear quite desolate if you look in the right direction. In many landscapes most of what we see is what covers the scene, but here the underlying geology is often stripped bare and we are left with a landscape of rock and sand. Even where plants grow — more places than you might imagine — they do not cover the landscape in the manner of forests and meadows.
This photograph is about that way of seeing this landscape. The dunes build one after another toward their highest point, much like waves on the ocean. Beyond this there is a rugged desert mountain range. This photograph is what I think of as a subjectively true image. While you would never find a scene that literally looks exactly like this, this interpretation is true to one way of seeing the place.

Before finally heading down towards Montreux and Lake Geneva, we turn around and glance back one last time at where we came from: the other side of Switzerland, more than 330km (210mi) away. At least that's the distance it takes when you choose to go on foot and over these very Alps. Via Alpina trek, Switzerland.
When I stopped in Amsterdam for a week, I didn't think I would also go to Scheveningen, Haga. But some friends were vacationing in Holland and they suggested we all go there, to the beach. Of course I brought along my camera and luckily there was this nice sunset to shoot. I like this especially because you can see the moving clouds, but the weel is still, as of from another layer of time.
