One of my favorite things about shooting in the Roan Highlands, are the layers of the mountains, there are options for 360 degrees from the top of Round Bald. On this morning, I chose to shoot towards the direction of the rising sun, the pinks on the horizon and the blue tones in the hills was just too much for this photographer to pass up.

Just arrived in Cyprus, evening and driving away from the airport the sun was setting with the most amazing colours. I stopped on the side of the road by the Salt Lake, Larnaca and as the tripod was firmly in one of the suitcases, I had to improvise with the camera settings.

Santiago's luck is paradoxical. The valley in which is placed does not allow pollution to leave the area. However, that same valley, gives the chance to constantly have amazing views to the Andes Mountains.

One of those barren, layered Utah landscapes with the magnificent red Utah rock. Captured in Canyonlands National Park in September 2020. (K1AC9093)

This is another image that I have kept on file for a long time before finally developing the processing skills in order to it justice. This is a very trickly image to both expose at the capture stage and also at processing. This is because of the huge contrast in the image, with the highlighted or illuminated layers conflicting with the much darker, shaded seaweed covered areas. I used the dodging and burning tools in Elements to bring out the chalk boulder and to keep the contrast in order.

While driving in Waterton Lakes National Park, we saw these exposed cliff sides showing layer upon layer of sedimentary rock in various colors of beige, brown and grey. The park has some of the oldest exposed sedimentary rock in the Canadian Rockies. I was fascinated by the colored layers with splashes of green plant growth near the top. Imagine the trees trying to take root in this rock. The sad part is that many trees succeeded in finding a place to grow only to be burned later by a devastating fire.
