Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you (Nathaniel Hawthorne)

At the beginning of the route along the Gorges du Verdon looking through to the beautiful emerald water of the Lac de Sainte-Croix and above that on top of the escarpment is the famous Plateau of Valensole known for its beautiful lavender fields
Took my mountain bike to ride on a dirt road in the country to finally kneel in the damp earth with my forehead and eyes wet and stinging with perspiration, but I am happy as the efforts have been rewarded! :)
butterflies enjoying the smell of the lavender.. and why not!
Taken yesterday in the heat of the day... way too hot!
Today we discovered a beautiful lavender field at a short drive from our home. The aroma is in the air from the parking already 😊
The sun was hiding behind the clouds though, meaning we need to visit again before the season ends. Impressive flowers!

Valensole Provence. Slowly working my way through the memory cards from this summers visit to the south of France. I gave a painterly feel to this image and used a gradient mask to them focus it more so on the foreground and fade way as it reached the vanishing line
Nostalgia for Provence, for the lavender fields that bloom and perfume the air at this time of the year, for the gentle hills dominated by farmhouses, vineyards, olive groves and ancient monasteries, for the insistent song of cicadas ...
I see myself taking pictures of pastel-colored houses, of Renato in the middle of sunflower fields, of lavender collected in bunches and sold on the stalls at the market ...
