Warwickshire Lavender farm. Watery Lane Bubbenhall. First conceived in 2016 as a hobby for retirement but soon became very popular with visitors and has now expanded. All money to enter the field go to charities. Parking is free and there is a lovely Cafe on site which has been converted from an old farm building. The distillery is usually open where scents, oils etc and all things associated with lavender including plants can be purchased. Well worth a visit!

I have combined a sky taken on the same day during the evening as there wasn't a cloud in the sky when the original shot was taken which made the image look flat with no definition!

Luckily, our visitors were able to enjoy the Lavender fields of Sequim before another Heat Dome descended upon us.

We visited the lavender fields in the Valensole Plateau yesterday afternoon in 36c heat. There were many 'lavender tourists' around taking photos but we struck lucky when I came across this particular pristine field as there was hardly anybody around.

Happy new week! 💜

You can see some people standing amongst the lavender at the top of the photo where the cars are parked. People are asked not to go in amongst the lavender as it's a farmer's field and this is their crop to be harvested and sold. What those in the photo are doing is not too bad but just a bit further on there were hordes of people standing and posing in lavender fields, some with professional photographers and props including changes of clothes in a campervan and different big floppy hats, etc. I'd like to think that all the 'models' were there for their perfect lavender shot for Instagram and not us more thoughtful photographers of Flickr! :-)

In 1999, our first lavender was planted in the fields at Hill Barn Farm. From those first few plants we have now grown to cover some 70 acres of the farm.

"It seems a long time ago planting those first few plants on hands and knees in the first field. At the time we didn't know if lavender would suit the soil type or survive the harsh winters up here. But survive it did, although we did have a few sleepless nights in the early days. It is now difficult to remember a time before lavender was central to our farm. Almost everything we now do revolves around lavender - growing, harvesting, making new products and of course using it ourselves every day"

Charlie Byrd, Farmer

More than 20 years later the lavender fields are known throughout the world and we love welcoming visitors every summer to enjoy the glorious site of acres of purple stretching across the hills as you drive out of the village of Snowshill towards the farm. We are a commercial, working farm and we harvest the lavender every year at the end of July so that we can produce the essential oil and lavender grains needed to make our products. This means that not all the fields can be accessible to the public but the display field which we open to the public, contains approximately 20 acres of row upon row of lavender for you to enjoy. Here you can walk, relax, picnic and while away the hours. Of course, we can’t forget those selfies. We have been told we are one of the most Instagrammable places in the Cotswolds!

Thank you so much for your views and reactions. It’s highly appreciated!

We went for a very nice drive this morning to the lavender fields near the Gorges du Verdon. I got a few photos including of course this one of sunflowers but there were so many photographers around who had the same intentions. The countryside was amazing - so beautiful. I like that I got a mix of sunflowers and lavender (& grasses) in this particular photo.

Close to sunset, when the light is inciding the rows of the lavenderfields from the side, they are starting to glow. Thats a picture that always is lasting only some minutes.

When i have choosen my pictures for Flickr, i didn't took this one, because it loooks just the preceding picture. But looking again, i changed my mind, because i coudn't choose between them, they are equally beautiful.

Perhaps you could help me in this, my dear Flickrs fellows.

Gordes - Provence - France

A lavenderfield in the light of the setting sun on one of the most photographed spots in the surroundings of Valensole. For me it was a premier and a great experience. The smell on such a field is, in the true sense of the word, breathtaking.

Sénanque Abbey is my preferred Cistercian Abbey in Provence, located more precisely in the Luberon, near Gordes. It was founded in the XIIth century. I had admired it once, but unfortunately, it was in june, before lavenders flourishing, and we had arrived too late in the afternoon to visit it. So I promised myself to see it again at the right period.

This time, lavenders fields were in flowers, at the beginning of July, and we arrived at about ten'o clock in the morning at the opening, a perfect time to admire the abbey et to visit it without waiting too much. So beautiful was the abbey in front of it's lavenders field in flowers ! It was for me a moment of great joy, i had realized one of my dreams !

View On Black

In this lavender field was a mirrored van. I took a few of the reflections of the van (which was selling goods). I liked the way the reflection seemed to continue along the lines of the lavender. The sky was quite moody as well.
