This picture is when the Alka Seltzer is starting to melt.

Taken in a little shop in DC.

It's been a tricky one to work out how to edit this series so i've decided to edit the series in the time order i produced them in which seems to be logical for a subject thats changes over time. The shoot got more abstract as it went on, ending with extreme close up of parts of a Palm Tree leaf with some lava related interesting reflections.

It's hard to say which is the more exciting promotional idea: making Soap Lake the site of The World's Largest Lava Lamp... or putting up this sign to mark the future site of that lava lamp.

Try it as an interactive sphere. (Flash)

BTW - both the sign and the actual giant lava lamp have been here for years -- the lamp in storage and the sign on display. C'mon Soap Lake! Time to rotate the display!

This glass changed colors every second or so. It's the weirdest thing I've seen in awhile...I couldn't imagine putting good wine over ice and drinking it in one of these, but they were.

Meh, I got super bored and experimented with some new effects (new for me). Not sure exactly how I feel about it yet...I think that it may be growing on me.

The reason behind the lava lamp was to make sure that it still worked. I had it sitting on our dresser in our bedroom, but one night one of the cats knocked it to the ground while jumping off of the dresser. It landed awkwardly on the carpet/pile of pillows and thankfully didn't spill everywhere.

One more day until Brian is hoooome! I am really excited for him to be home because we actually will get to celebrate the fourth of July together, married. It will be our second holiday in our apartment here in Georgia. <3 I am still working on planning what we will do...I'm thinking about some time at the beach, maybe dinner at a cafe, and then down town to see the fireworks? It is still up in the air.

Until then, I will be cleaning up the house (like CLEANING because I am absolutely terrified of contracting bugs and spiders) and reading. BTW I killed the biggest and most disgusting looking ant thing last night...hence my crazy cleaning rampage/s. I am going to the store on Monday and getting all the kitty safe bug killers I can find and putting them in the apartment. I. Do. NOT. Do. Bugs! Now I feel all creepy crawly and paranoid. Bah, I am not sleeping tonight!

You would think that the lava would eventually split. But I assure you that it didn't.

GCC Activity Night. Long Exposure on revolving Lava Lamp

PTM 3/52 Repeating. This was a fun one to edit! Our lava lamp, rotated 180. Edited with Paint The Moon actions - Glitter Pop Base and Sparkle Brush On from Grace (on reds only) and Silver Screen Goddess from Picture Perfect on all else.

In this one I mixed the food coloring. I mixed pinkish red with blue. Cool right?

This lamp recently seen for sale is a slightly different version of the commonly seen Stardust Lites. This version features a different cap with a wooden effect and a slightly different base too. I just love the ornate base which gives this lamp its unique character. This vintage USA glitter lamp is really interesting ... Please see the photos for more details.

@Bates School Homemade lava lamps- that's a new one!

In this one I tried to see what will happen if I heat up the water.

Pete's lava lamp. Neat.

The lava lamp in my room.

Only 300 more to go!

I found this lamp turned on all by itself the other night. I figured why not take a picture of it? The pictures I took didn't come out as I planned, I was hoping for something a little more groovy when I did some long exposures, instead I just got a bunch of glowing white light. This came out alright. It reminds me of my vodka picture.

Don't drink the lava lamp fluid with this guy in it or you'll turn into Roky Erickson!

Lovely patterns created by transparent blinds (in the Ikea Cafe). They rather remind me of 60's Lava Lamps.
