I loved this bookshelf, and I'm sad I had to leave it behind. I hope its current owners appreciate it. Maybe if you look closely you can see my tastes in literature.
This lamp recently seen for sale is a slightly different version of the commonly seen Stardust Lites. This version features a different cap with a wooden effect and a slightly different base too. I just love the ornate base which gives this lamp its unique character. This vintage USA glitter lamp is really interesting ... Please see the photos for more details.
The lamp contains a standard incandescent bulb or halogen lamp ... [below a] glass bottle containing water (often with glycerol derived additive) and a ...mix of wax and carbon tetrachloride ... The wax is slightly denser than water at room temperature but is less dense under warmer conditions. This occurs because wax expands more than water when both are heated. When heated, the wax becomes fluid, its specific gravity decreases, and blobs of wax ascend to the top of the device where they cool and then descend. A metallic wire coil in the base of the bottle acts as a surface tension breaker to recombine the cooled blobs of wax after they descend.
Do you have a gift that whenever you use it you are reminded of the friend that gave it to you? A very special 'Chicken' gave me this lamp, and even when it's not turned on, I think of her. It's a shame that our lives aren't crossing as much as once they did (one of the few downsides of us having been outsourced).
This one is for you sweetie, to let you know that I love you. I miss the daily laughter, chick-chats, smiles and your perfect sense of fun.

It's been a tricky one to work out how to edit this series so i've decided to edit the series in the time order i produced them in which seems to be logical for a subject thats changes over time. The shoot got more abstract as it went on, ending with extreme close up of parts of a Palm Tree leaf with some lava related interesting reflections.
It's hard to say which is the more exciting promotional idea: making Soap Lake the site of The World's Largest Lava Lamp... or putting up this sign to mark the future site of that lava lamp.
Try it as an interactive sphere. (Flash)
BTW - both the sign and the actual giant lava lamp have been here for years -- the lamp in storage and the sign on display. C'mon Soap Lake! Time to rotate the display!
