Launched in 1959 with subsequent B (1961 on ) and C-spec (1963 on) but I'm not enough of a Dartista to be absolutely sure which one this is. I guess the looks grow on one but sales were never stellar with 2645 manufactured in a five year production run.

This is actually a comp of six images. Five were taken about an hour before launch and are bent into a Mercatur projection showing the photographers on either side of me. Onto this pano I comp'd a single frame from my wide-angle camera roll of the launch itself.
Photoshop disaster? You tell me.

The space shuttle Discovery and its crew of seven rocketed into orbit Sunday, March 15, 2009. The launch plume glowed pink, peach and golden.
It was a unique experience. We could hear the roar of the engines and the ground trembled.
About two minutes after liftoff, the SRBs (Solid Rocket Boosters) were released, and shortly begin falling into the ocean. It will be retrieved and reused.
