Any springtime visit to Grasslands National Park is almost certain to be a lark. Oops, I mean any visitor. Well, any little brown and yellow, winged visitor. I've never seen more Meadowlarks in one place and certainly never more of these constantly moving, fast flying Horned Larks.

on the Kennet and Avon canal at Bathampton, Somerset.
The folks a board were wineing and dining.
The Kennet and Avon Canal is a waterway in southern England with an overall length of 87 miles (140 km),[1] made up of two lengths of navigable river linked by a canal. The name is commonly used to refer to the entire length of the navigation rather than solely to the central canal section. From Bristol to Bath the waterway follows the natural course of the River Avon before the canal links it to the River Kennet at Newbury, and from there to Reading on the River Thames. In all, the waterway incorporates 105 locks.
The two river stretches were made navigable in the early 18th century, and the 57-mile (92 km) canal section was constructed between 1794 and 1810. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the canal gradually fell into disuse after the opening of the Great Western Railway. In the latter half of the 20th century the canal was restored in stages, largely by volunteers. After decades of dereliction and much restoration work, it was fully reopened in 1990. The Kennet and Avon Canal has been developed as a popular heritage tourism destination for boating, canoeing, fishing, walking and cycling, and is also important for wildlife conservation.
This church (on the fortress island of Suomenlinna, near Helsinki) was originally Russian Orthodox, but at a later point it was converted to Lutherian and its onion domes were knocked down, leaving it looking a little bit odd. It reminded me of a rocket on a launch pad.
'Morning Launch' Large On Black
A portion of the wintering population of Sandhill Cranes at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico. I love the running crane with the bit of splash.
With the release of the new mini nuke someone had to make the iconic Fatman mini nuke launcher.

Jasper got the codes for Christmas and he's launching a full-on frisbee attack. Canine missile launched! Granted this is an ugly backdrop but thought the impressive leap was worth posting.

Creating memorable moments is something we strive to do on our photo workshops. During an outing this spring, we were getting ready to wind up a fun Milky Way shoot deep in the Utah desert. A 5% moon was just starting to rise when all of the sudden we saw a line of lights traveling quickly in the sky overhead. These lights originated from a single point and proceeded to follow each other all the way to the horizon. We had never seen anything like it! The lights just kept coming and coming. Meanwhile, I decided I'd better take a photo to document it! After we got back, we learned this was a launch of some Starlink satellites by SpaceX. If you zoom in on the photo, you can see the little hooks in the light trails from where they were launched off the rocket. Moments like this will live in our memories forever!

Can you spot the OSHA Violation?
Taken at the end of November last year when we were lucky enough to have about 100 Bohemian Waxwings feeding in a residential Norwich street.
They were a bit more skittish than Waxwings I have encountered before - decending en masse from the overlooking trees for no longer than 30 seconds at a time of frenzied feeding before returning to safety.

Just to reassure that I've not been completely idle of late, but just focussing on street photography as a different challenge! As a result I'm part of a street photography exhibition with 3 fellow photographers, Becky Frances, Joe O'Malley and Kevin Newman. We'll each be displaying 10 prints and for those of you who kindly visited my last exhibition, it's at the same venue, until mid-Jan 2018, but it would be great to see you at the launch, all welcome!

An immature Osprey launching from its nest. This was an awesome sight for sure here on Blue Cypress Lake in Vero Beach, FL.
The balloon launch this morning was delayed a few times because of weather again. I parked myself on the west side of Prospect Lake facing east.
This is the arched hallway of the City Hall in Santiago de Compostela in Spain. It's simply a mirrored image of the top of the hallway and it's rotated 90 degrees. You can note the lamps at the top of the archs. Then I added the lights effects through the columns.
This sunset was seen near the kayak launch at Pine Glades Natural Area in Jupiter, Florida.
