This GBH was looking for a more likely fishing location. This was the deepest part of the launch preparation.
Creating memorable moments is something we strive to do on our photo workshops. During an outing this spring, we were getting ready to wind up a fun Milky Way shoot deep in the Utah desert. A 5% moon was just starting to rise when all of the sudden we saw a line of lights traveling quickly in the sky overhead. These lights originated from a single point and proceeded to follow each other all the way to the horizon. We had never seen anything like it! The lights just kept coming and coming. Meanwhile, I decided I'd better take a photo to document it! After we got back, we learned this was a launch of some Starlink satellites by SpaceX. If you zoom in on the photo, you can see the little hooks in the light trails from where they were launched off the rocket. Moments like this will live in our memories forever!

Just to reassure that I've not been completely idle of late, but just focussing on street photography as a different challenge! As a result I'm part of a street photography exhibition with 3 fellow photographers, Becky Frances, Joe O'Malley and Kevin Newman. We'll each be displaying 10 prints and for those of you who kindly visited my last exhibition, it's at the same venue, until mid-Jan 2018, but it would be great to see you at the launch, all welcome!

The SpaceX Inspiration4 was launced on 9-15-21 from the Kennedy Space Center and seen from Jetty Park (81 miles away) in Fort Pierce, Florida. It was the first all-civilian crew to orbit earth.

Monitoring the data.worldbank.org/ launch from the hotel room. Ian Ward did most of the heavy lifting from his office in Ayacucho/Peru.
I really liked the futuristic look of the Canary Wharf tube station in London.

Launching the future HMCS Robert Hampton Gray in twilight in Bedford Basin, the 6th and final Arctic Patrol Ship for the Canadian Navy
- 2 second exposure to calm the waters, glad the wind stopped shaking the tripod for the shot, as the effective focal length was 480mm!

The Margate lifeboat is being launched. It is pushed out to sea by the amphibious launch tractor until it reaches an adequate depth of water for the boat to make off by it`s own.

One of two sculptures at Hudson Yards near The Vessel. The only information that I could find was that the pieces are on display to May 17th - since I took this photo a few days later that's obviously wrong. There's also no information as to why these are here or who sponsored the project.
Happy Bench Monday
We may have seen our last big swell of the Winter season, so I'm feeling a bit nostalgic. This is Ben, surfing on New Year's Eve. He's completely recovered from his skateboard accident, by the way.
A different take on the launchers because why not :D
They do launch some Christmas props.

I was sniping at these duck hunters who launched their duck decoys from their "mother boat". The one on the left stood up and kept flapping its mechanical wings. The way how it was done was quite amusing.
It was a busy scene at the launch site of the Teton Valley Ballon Rally as the teams prepare to take flight.
Hehe every time I see this bridge, I would think of it as a missile launch pad in some Command & Conquer games :D
This is the infamous bridge Sri Wawasan in Putrajaya. You can view a more close up shot here. If you want to see a perfect reflection of the bridge, go here.
It's been raining a lot lately. Yesterday was one of the day where the sun would shine. And I had another great outing with Daniel for the second time :-)

This is a view of the inaugural launch of the SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Titusville, Florida on 2-6-18. See this, and more, on my website at www.tom-claud.pixels.com.
This shot was taken on the Kancamagus Highway in NH. We went to a Hot Air balloon festival that never launched any balloons in NY while we were there.
The highlight of the trip was probably the drive home as far as views are concerned. We got to the highway very close to the end of the sunset however we still got some really amazing views.
