One of my antique oil lamps with a hint of lavender from aging in the sun. Sitting on an Eastlake Bureau.
Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.

Lovely pair of mushroom lamps from the Laurel Lamp Company of Newark, New Jersey. Produced in the 1960's, I believe these retain their original globes. They were found in Eagan, Minnesota.
FINALLY found shades for my lovely vintage hairpin-leg lamps! I bought these lamps for $10 each a few years back, but have struggled to find shades that work. I was almost resigned to having custom fiberglass ones made from Moon Shine when I found these for $12 at Target. :)
Thanx for the suggestions Shyam, Alan, and all others. Cropped, toned, AND I THINK IT LOOKS BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL POST !
Indian handcrafted novelty snowshoes and a replica Adirondack pack basket complete with Hudson's Bay blanket and woven scarf, form a still life winter scene of roughing it out-of-doors. At the base of a white birch tree supporting a parchment shade and moose head finial, firewood has been readied to keep the camp fire burning.
From a wonderful store giving Joy throughout the Land in Topeka - a Coleman CQ Lamp. Estimated date is 1919. As noted by me elsewhere - these are solid, simple and extraordinarily effective lamps - a testament to the vision of William Coleman and the American Crafrsmen (and women) that made them. Works as new after simple cleaning and a new generator (R55)
And for the detail junkies - Fount is good - dry as a desert with only very fine rust dust! Handle is the tall one (4.25") and is faintly marked with language along the lines of "Coleman Quick Lite, CQ, Coleman Lamp Company , Wichita Kansas". As it has the single patent date of May 13, 1919 on the tube, tall handle, and no markings on the fount - best estimate based on "The Book" is 1917-1919, and being most likely 1919 unless it has been messed with and has replaced parts. This will be a good comparison with my later lamp with short handle (1919-1924) when done!
