P.S. So this was the trickiest Little World globe I worked with. I knew it fit in the Kitsune forest of Kintsugi but where? and then I saw it, how the barbed wires surprisingly wrapped nicely around the entrance of the Art of Nature Pavilion. The little hope in the center that keeps our fright at bay is such an inspiration and temporary peace.
Fear is the one emotion we all carry with us daily. Some of us seem to have mastered numbing it but majority of our decisions are always based on that fright we have inside. Who knows what reasons keeps it there but it is just how most of us are molded. Even the most carefree persona you know has a bit of fright, ever so tiny present. Whether it is the fear to change, the fear to love or the fear to jump into every new chapter. It will be something we cannot escape. It is only something we must learn to embrace and allow to co-exist with our hopes. Barbed wire fears holding our hopes together and not allowing us to let go.

P.S. My second picture! This was actually the first shot I took and what gave me the idea. On this day I was not particularly feeling tranquil but being in Bambi's Wise Garden gave me some inspiration to take a photo. I saw the Little World Globe and as I was camming around to find that perfect angle, I saw it! I saw how the water lotus inside the little globe blended so well with the Zen pool. I was mind blown :p
There is a lot of definitions for being in a state of Tranquility. For some of us, just sitting alone in silence with the sound of rain and a cup of hot chocolate is tranquil. Putting together an idea you love, allowing the time to fly in your own mind, in your own imagination. I feel that when we all master the art of being in Tranquility on our own, it is when we finally accept ourselves fully to be able to welcome others to join in and understand our Tranquility. It's the quiet moments of our life, waiting for the bus, riding on the bus and the short walk back to your home. So simple and yet a magnificent feeling inside.

P.S. After a while of thought, I decided what I wanted to do with 8f8s Little Worlds series. When I saw these in December last year, I was mind blown, the little worlds so small inside the globe really melted my heart. It was just fitting to blend them with Kintsugi. I'll be posting each globe blending with Kintsugi in the next few days.
Knowledge is a precious globe and I knew I had to take this particular photo in my forever home, the art of nature escape way. We are forever in the process of learning. That is just how we are built, after we learn something, we tend to move on to the next one, never satisfied and never fulfilled. You would be surprise about what you can learn the more you continue searching for knowledge. Little happenings, facts and theories somehow tend to help you everyday in unexpected ways. Sometimes though, I do enjoy exploring the knowledge that there is real magic in the world, wouldn't it be fun to escape into fantasy now and then?

My depressive peak that has been devastating me for several weeks seems to be coming to an end. It's a hard work on myself, and I wouldn't have the strength without my loved ones, and psychological help.
Pascal Quignard said that the only cure for depression is depression. To say it differently, I would say that the scars left by it are like the golden joints of the art of Kintsugi.

P.S. the 11th picture in this series, 1 more to go, but actually, I discovered there was a group gift so actually 2 more to go. I really enjoyed taking all these pictures I am a little sad that I am running out of them. It took me longer to post this particular one because it is really special for me because it has 2 things I love, Sakura trees and water. I have always loved Sakura trees, it all started because it is pink and that was my favorite color growing up (So cliché, I know...) But as time flew by, I learnt more and more about it. The symbolism of fragility and the beauty of life. Something so short that needs to be lived fully and treasured. I am also a water lover, I always love being near the ocean, swimming into its endless depths and overall that feeling of walking by the sea and getting carried away with the ocean's breeze.
I love that this particular globe is also named Quietude, the first thing I thought about is a person who made me feel that way. frozen in time, never changing and home... It is true that we can find home in a person. Someone that can turn your every thought into a turmoil, who can challenge you to be the best you can be, inject confidence that they knew you always had in you. Just make you the best version of yourself all because they believed in you. Endless ugly arguments about nothing and yet after that you can't even remember why they started in the first place. That toxic, poisonous and deadly hypnotic pull they somehow have on you that you are so aware of and yet still take the bait because hell you want it too. When they are not around, you yearn for them even if it is just sitting in silence or watching them dive into what they do best with you watching on the sidelines, cheering them on. And when they are gone, no one can seem to compare...
I must say this year 2020 not only devastated the world but it also devastated my quietude because nothing can replace them or that feeling when what you thought was never going to end (Well, at least you tried to make yourself believe it would never end) has finally did.
Acceptance is something hard to come by but it is something that comes along slowly, in small steps around a long never ending spiral staircase going up. With each step, you release a part of that person you kept with you, slowly trying to forget.
But the more you try to forget, it just makes you remember...

From Wikipedia: Kintsugi (金継ぎ, "golden joinery"), also known as kintsukuroi (金繕い, "golden repair"), is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum, a method similar to the maki-e technique. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise.
The art of kintsugi is often used as a symbol and metaphor for resilience - a concept that indicates the ability to deal positively with traumatic events, to positively reorganize and rebuild life when facing difficulties while remaining sensitive to the positive opportunities that life offers.
Kintsugi - Spirited Beyond is exactly this: the union of two creative minds - Valarie Muffin Meow (zalindah) and Bambi (norahbrent) - coming together to create something magical and unique as a way to cope with Bambi's RL loss, a place of extreme spirituality and beauty.

Kintsugi is a series of interconnected mixed media photo books/zines meant to be read together, though in no particular order. The title refers to the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery, where fractures are not concealed but transformed into part of the whole. Similarly, the narrative unfolds in fragments—entries, logs, memos, and notes that, assembled, reveal a larger structure.
The texts document the Habitat and its inhabitants, who, under the supervision of The Vault, tend to the surrounding terrain and to the Shells—enigmatic local forms whose nature remains uncertain. What emerges is a record of observation, repair, and transformation—an act of narrative kintsugi.
One of the covers for these zines. I want to eventually organize the spreads with writing into a single printed zine, but not sure what to do with the covers as they have no writing and will be out of place. Maybe I will just put all of them on the cover or one separate page. I really love this photo I took without focus, I took it with my phone, from a car window, on the way to Lyon. Somehow it is almost my favorite photo recently. But it's not playing a major role in my work, so it goes on the cover and might not even be seen again.
This is the edge of large heavy metal roller used for flatterning lawns. It is sitting in the carpark at the Karen Rolton Oval, waiting for its next shift of duty on the cricket pitch. Meanwhile, the rounded flattening surface exposed to the weather has rusted gently to a soft golden orange.
Minor breaks and chips near the rim have been repaired with new bright metal that contrasts with the rusty roller surface as well as green paint on its side. It looks a little like Kintsugi, the Japanese practice which repairs broken pottery by using powdered gold, silver, or platinum.
P.S. Just another day sitting with Bambi at Kintsugi probably plotting world domination or her trying to talk me out of pursuing becoming a serial killer, we should not be in the same room... Introducing my new handsome boyfriend, Leon! Though I think he started flirting with Daisy already, dang it! Why do all men do this to me... *Ugly Cries*

We are happy to announce that we have a new addition to Sonder, The Painted Porch, lovingly created by Ayame Kintsugi-Moon. The Painted Porch offers a cozy haven where one can pause amidst the hustle and bustle of life and reflect and renew the spirit.
Right now at The Painted Porch, we are celebrating Dia de los Muertos. Originally an Aztec harvest celebration, what we now know as the "Day of the Dead" in Mexico was celebrated near the end of summer, honoring the changing of the season. Christian influence in Latin America merged it with their own All Saints and All Souls days.
The core belief of the Day of the Dead celebration is that spirits of our loved ones are allowed to return to the living and commune with them. Traditional offerings are made with items considered to be favorite possessions to the dead. Toys and calaveras (sugar skulls) are left for children, and adults are left food and alcohol at homemade altars, called ofrendas.
This is a time to share memories and celebrate the lives of loved our ones who have passed away. You are invited to take part in this celebration by adding to our community ofrenda with pictures and special tokens that bring joy to you and your loved who has passed on.
We will be celebrating from November 1st through November 6th. Please make your contributions to the ofrenda phantom and between 1-5 land impact. The Sonder group is required to rezz items.

P.S. I finally completed this series! It only took, what? 7 months? I honestly never planned this last little world to be posted today of all days considering the theme of it but I guess it was meant to be. The background is without a doubt something that was developed in all these months since Kintsugi opened during the month of May. To be exact, it opened to public on May 12 2020. I am sure the sim brought so much joy to plenty of people and it was a beacon of hope during those trying moments when we were faced with countless changes. It is sad that the sim has to close but some things sadly cannot last so long though the memories and the feelings it gave us will forever be imprinted. Despite everything, there was still some highly positive and significant happenings that made this year not completely bad which is why this little world representing joy just makes me smile.
The joy of making new friends, isn't it a beautiful, heartwarming and soulful connection? The sheer feeling of being accepted and accepting in return. Unfortunately, as much as making close friends happened, losing them too was a part of it. But perhaps this is why the notion of certain friends only meant to be 'close' for a season is a reality and this was proven during this year for me. As much as it is sad that your once close friend turns into an acquaintance, this was probably how things were meant to be. In spite of that, others tend to just disappear or leave for their own valid excuses/reasons. Did you lack anywhere? Maybe and maybe not but the important thing is you tried to fight for it. After all, friendship in solidarity are the most precious once and can lead to the most heavy heartache when ended.
The joy of discovery, discovering something new, discovering more about your long time friends and family and just discovering a whole new passion. Realizing you can create something beautiful with a long time friend that touched peoples hearts and helped to heal a little. Whether it is taking on a new instrument or discovering you had a passion for collecting different rocks or stamps. Diving into the world of trading, gold bidding and all other forms of digital profit making propaganda. Continuing or starting to write a book. The most common one that I have seen is those who didn't think they could cook before suddenly becoming bigtime cooks and bakers!
Last but not the least, the joy of finding love. Most said that it was not wise to get carried away with your feelings during this type of period since everyone was 'bored'.
