It may be the simplest toilet ever (just a few planches, no roof, etc), it still fulfills its two main objectives : providing a hole and some dignity for who ever having to fill it up.
And if you're asking yourself what it's doing here, in the middle of the kyrgyz mountains, it's simply because summer is coming. Sheperds are out with their families, yurts and sheeps and they need a place to go for when they need to go, like you, like me.

Taken from our garden. The ducklings are beginning to appear on the river now. Unfortunately a lot of them don't survive, especially if they get left behind or are left in the river too long before they become 'water-proofed'. Then they get tired and cold and drown.
Taken with my Canon Telephoto Zoom 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM EF Lens and apart from being framed in Photoshop is SOOC.

Saint Paul de Vence is a charming hilltop fortified village in Provence, France. It is one of the oldest medieval towns on the French Riviera. It is known for its architecture, art galleries, boutiques and sidewalk cafes. About 300 people live within the walls of the village, yet 2.5 million tourists visit each year.

I wandered out this Sunday morning for a stroll in the city centre.
Here is the riverside pathway showing how busy it can get with pedestrians, joggers, cyclists and even a wheelchair.
You have to be a bit careful as the cyclists can come up quickly, but in the city here they seem to behave themselves.

Mapperley Tunnel was worked from six construction shafts with three of them being retained for ventilation purposes. Today, only the southernmost shaft remains open as the northernmost shaft has been capped. This presumably happened when the tunnel was backfilled up to its midpoint. The central shaft is still technically open but so much rubbish has been thrown down it that only a small bit of light can make it down.
Therefore, other than the southern portal, this open shaft is the only point where natural light can enter the bore. The shaft is supported by a cast iron ring and signs of this tunnel's problem with water ingress are clearly visible at this point. This can be noted by both the presence of calcite running down the walls and the fact that almost all the bricks have lost their facings. If the bricks still had their facings, this section of the tunnel would be predominantly blue.
