A little apron for you and sewing machine to share!
I wanted to design a ‘desk apron’ to keep bits and bobs to hand but wanted it to be more exciting than a simple pocket with sections. By making it wearable too I could indulge in bows and frills and give it some character!
While you are using your machine the apron skirt will rest on your lap so your bits and bobs are just where you need them.
The pocket, which is hidden behind the bow, has sections for different tools and notions.
When you are working away from your machine, hand sewing or cutting, you can wear it as you would a normal apron. The table section folds behind the skirt and the big bow at the front continues round to tie at the back. There is a wide loop under the skirt to hold the ties out of the way when they are not needed.
The measuring tape is appliqued, with embroidery floss, to the table section. It is positioned at the front so that it can be used for a quick measurement check when sewing. Handy!
The apron uses 3 fabrics from separate ranges. The feature fabric is from the Punctuation range by American Jane. The lining print is from the circa 1934 range by Cosmo Cricket and the accent fabric is from Urban Cowgirl by Urban Chiks

A bin man swaps steel-toed boots for stilettos to chase his dream of becoming a drag queen. But will he overcome the cost of living crisis, an anti-woke boyfriend and inflexible hamstrings on his quest to be crowned Miss Stoke? Living in a small Northern town, the show begins as Wasteman’s relationship ends. As he makes something fabulous in the most un-fabulous of situations, expect triple threat talent, raucous laughs and lightning fast wig changes as he prepares for the competition in just four weeks, all while fleeing from the ghosts of his past.
Inspired by my real-life experiences working as a Refuse Loader during lockdown, this ‘drag oddysey’ is a love letter to hard-working Northerners and gender euphoria expressed through monologue, music, and drag. During the pandemic, I applied for every job available. In need of a career that would not be halted due to lockdown, I turned to refuse collection. To remain creative, I started to entertain my friends by hosting drag quizzes on Zoom as ‘Mariah Scary’. And so, the journey from bin-man to drag queen began.
The show has has since enjoyed a sell-out run at the Vault Festival and has been nominated for four awards, including two West End ‘Offies’. It is previewing at the Brighton Fringe before going up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as a recipient of the prestigious Keep It Fringe Fund funded by Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
As a young person born up North, I didn't get to see any stories about where I was from. And as a young queer person from a land far beyond London, stories about towns and lives like mine were non- existent. For this reason, I am over the moon to be bringing Wasteman to the Greater Manchestre Fringe. I believe that stories about gender expression are particularly necessary in the current climate. The piece fuses my passions for monologue, character-comedy, drag, musical theatre, and unusual day jobs.

Just playing out an idea for a shot.
I managed to find an old set of unused blinds in my garage for the shot I had in mind.
I ended up clamping the blinds to the cross bar of my b/g stand/support.
The beauty dish at left is gelled with some blue cellophane wrap, sandwiched in between the grid and dish. The light at camera right is a reflector with a 10deg grid.
Lighting was a Elinchrom Quadra pack and heads.

Wanna get a Jellyfish that is more gestural line work and warm "vintage-style Postcard" with muted warm tones along with a vibrant blue haze suggesting water.... w/out being an underwater "Sea-life" thing.
Not to be rendered solid fill, leaving nice skin gaps to tie into other pieces... Jellyfish tendril tips stick out become "grass" of sorts sticking out of water
(rep. from a dream I had of a Man-of-War draped upon the ocean shore made of grass... like a bubbling brook or grass-lined creek --- But the Ocean.)
Gotta save up for this one...
Oh, tattoos --- you suck, 'cause I keep wanting more. But I might hold off after THIS one... Sure. That's what they all say.
Keep on the lookout for more from this set. This was possibly the most photogenic non-squirrel mammal I've ever happened across.
