Maybe, it's because my wife is a nurse but she's continually sanitising her hands and of course she got me doing the same!! I've always got one of these little gels close at hand!

the past few weeks here have been a bit strange.

two suicides occured in the local arts community. no one i knew personally, but people i

knew, knew those who offed themselves. and without going into details, it's a subject that hits close to home for me, so invariably i'm dragged kicking and screaming back to that time and experience and it gets painful...deep painful.

plus these things always occur in threes, so...waiting.

i always put my guard up in these situations, mostly because empaths

tend to absorb other people's pain and this is a really sucky problem to have.

really, sucky. for lack of a more tactful way to articulate that.

anytime this happens, people inevitably ask the unanswerable "why?". why would someone with so much talent, drive, kindness, love to give, creativity, and loving circle of family and friends suddenly take their own lives.

and for the longest time, there was no answer. i came up with all sorts of theories: perhaps they were just sick of life? perhaps they were just selfish? perhaps they'd just given up completely? you know how the brain rationalizes that stuff.

then, this past saturday...deep in the midst of trying desperately to concentrate on

the world cup match between Argentina and Brasil - mainly to keep from falling to pieces,

it occured to me like a thought implanted in my brain by someone or something outside of myself.

hastily, i took out my phone (everyone around me must've thought i was a total bitch at that time between staring at the tv and typing like mad into my phone) and swyped the following

half soberly in a memo:

"the reason that people kill themselves isn't because they've given up (well, partially yes - but we must probe deeper into the murky depths of why they've given up),

it's because they feel they don't deserve to be loved.

People find it so easy to give freely of their own love, but the scale is always unbalanced, and an unbalanced scale is an unhappy scale.

i honest think humanities greatest lesson in this lifetime is, aside from learning how to love unconditionally is learning how to accept love from others.

we all know how to love someone, that's easy. but few of us know how to accept love from others without wrapping it up in selfishness. yup. allow someone to love us is easy, to really deeply feel that love is to be vulnerable.

or is it? perhaps accepting love is the most human thing we can do. we refuse compliments, downplay our talents and triumphs and shrug off love. we feel we aren't wortthy, aren't good enough - that we are somehow lacking.

you can be the most amazing person in the world, doing increedible things for others, creating and innovating, but if you can't accpet that you are deserving of love then life is meaningless. no amount of community or charity service, no amount of laughs, or friends and good times can fill that void.

and why is it we feel we are so undeserving of love? is it that we donn don't love ourselves? i'm not sure that answer is complete correct.

i think somewhere along the way we are taught to feel undeserving of love. Some of us take these thoughts inward and end harming only ourselves (or so we perceive when we use "the world would be a better place without me" logic. Others of us use our pain and inability to absorb love to harm others (the "if I'm not happy, no one deserves to be happy" logic).

when you open your eyes, you will see this everywhere, and it's painful. you will see the broken people behind the facades.

why can we not accept that we are loveable? why do we deem ourselves not good enough when we know there are people that love us?"

these thoughts are imcomplete...

and they'll probably stay this way.

purposefully.

i will leave you with this:

receive the love you give.

thanks for being here, all y'all.

Remember when I said I was trying new things during Polaroid Week? I've noticed this car for weeks, outside a small euro-autobody shop on my way home from work. But I didn't have the guts to stop and ask if I could photograph it. This evening on my way home, I finally stopped to ask. The guy was really friendly and even used the word "cool" to describe my camera. I took an extra exposure of the same shot so he could keep it.

Well, with a bit of delay but here it comes... My sixth entry to CCC XI. Court entertainment.

The king has been blue for a week already - it was a busy time for the royal jester, who tried numerous tricks to entertain him. Unfortunately, all of them were fruitless - even most dangerous acrobatic performance seems not to be enough...

I can't imagine living in any country, or under any regime, where you can't have beautiful women in public in bikini contests, strip clubs, rock music, motorcycle rallies, women free to dress and do as they please...

Let us all work hard to keep the freedoms in America that so many, both within and without, are seeking to erode or take away entirely.

So here’s the scoop on this bikini contest:

At Destination Daytona

www.brucerossmeyer.com/t-events.aspx

they were hosting a blast, a real party...a really rockin' band, a kick-ass solo guitarist, a bikini contest, a raffle, a beer belly contest, food...the works! Plenty of cold beer and drinks to go around too.

Well, here’s the kicker: the temp barely crawled into the 50s and the wind blew nonstop at 15-20 mph with gusts as high as 40! Can you say, "fucking frigid?!" So all of us bikers are sitting around with multiple layers of clothing on, chaps, leather jackets, gloves, stocking caps...drinking cold beer and freezing our asses off, and we figure the bikini contest, natch, will be canceled...nope! Four incredibly sexy and gorgeous ladies who I think were tougher than any of us got up on stage in that roaring wind and stripped down to nearly nothing and they were on stage a long time, posing, dancing, etc. Kudos to these gals for not only their sexy beauty but for braving this frigid wind with next to nothing on just to give us old fools a little pleasure! :) Thank you, ladies!

And if you think I'm exaggerating about the cold and the wind, watch this video:

I believe these girls were dancers from Diamond Dolls, one of Daytona’s more well-known strip joints. (I don't call 'em "gentlemen's clubs," I prefer the old school term and I use it with affection and respect, not pejoratively.) So guess where I'm going multiple times during Bike Week to pay my respects? :)

Can you say, ridiculous god-awful amounts of fun? Hell yeah!

Thanks Destination Daytona and all involved for hosting a really great party!
