"The Red Bridge is one of three vehicle/highway bridges over the Thompson River in Kamloops. Originally built in 1887, the bridge was rebuilt in 1912 and again in 1936. There are still wood piers and wood pilings supporting the bridge and its approaches. As a matter of fact, I don't believe I noticed any steel on the bridge, save for bolts and tension rods.
All the bridges in Kamloops are pretty long, as the Thompson is fairly wide here. Actually, there are three Thompson Rivers in Kamloops, the North Thompson River, the South Thompson River and, after they converge, the Thompson River. This bridge crosses the South Thompson River about one kilometre east of the confluence, north of Downtown Kamloops. Including approaches the bridge is about 400 metres in length." Reference
c1984 - This is one of 46 fuel transporters meant for gang train service, numbered 73100-73146, all converted from 40' steel boxcars in 1980-81 – 73146-73157 followed in 1986-87. CN 73137 was originally built by Canadian Car & Foundry in July 1954 as 538650, and converted to a fuel transporter in July 1981. The car was removed from the roster in March 1996.

I started this group years ago. The idea was to have people post large photos of Kamloops and the area around it.
Here is a panorama I did back in 2004. Heaps better software to edit and augment the photos now!
Must return with my new cameras to shoot my home town.
This is shot in Knutsford British Columbia, just outside of Kamloops B.C. As a child my father would take us fishing in the Kamloops area. I grew up looking out the car window and seeing the grasslands of Kamloops.
In this shot I waited for the shadow to pass through this relic piece of grasslands farming equipment. This is shot at 1400 Beresford Street, in Knutsford, British Columbia. Beautiful morning light...

Takeoff from Kamloops towards Calgary.
This is part of a huge collection of pictures I took during a flying school trip From Ottawa, Ontario to Vancouver, British Columbia this past summer. A great learning opportunity for us new private pilots and instructors to fly to all these cool locations along the way and back. We took 3 Cessna 172s and one Beechcraft Duchess.

High upon the hill
I want you to walk with me
When the rains come again
And shine this light over you
Rainbow
Rainbow
- Robbie Robertson
One of the many rainbows that graced the 2014 Flat-coated Retriever Specialty show at the end of August. There were rainbows every day of the long weekend in Kamloops.
It's taken me a long time to be able to go back and look at these photos. As many of you know, Tinbie died very suddenly just as we arrived at the show. A friend who was with me when it happened commented "As we were breaking camp at the conclusion of the Specialty, a brilliant double rainbow appeared over the hills. Everyone knew who that was for."
This photo was taken from the parking lot of our motel.
