The eastbound Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver crosses the Thompson River just before arriving at the station, their final destination for the day.
Throughout the region, you'll find landscapes of desert areas including arid, semi-desert, hoodoos, sagebrush, rolling hills, dried golden grasses, clay cliffs, box canyons, gullies and prickly pear cacti. The grasslands between Merritt and Kamloops are made up of prairie-like rolling grasslands.

A lovely spot to capture my hometown of Kamloops, BC. This spot offers an unobstructed view of the valley, the city’s urban layout, and the surrounding mountains, allowing for stunning landscape shots, especially during the golden hour when the light accentuates the contours of the terrain.

An empty Rocky Mountaineer crosses the South Thompson River in downtown Kamloops, BC after unloading passengers at the former CNR Station. The train will shove back to the Mountaineer's maintenance facility at North Kamloops, and head for Banff and Lake Louise with a load of passengers first thing in the morning.
