When I think of summer rain, I think of this - being from Seattle, this is often our summer skies - gray, cloudy, a patch of blue here or there but usually gray to the mountain tops. A quick watercolor for my journal page....

I have been asked numerous times to share my journals. These sketches are the preparation I do before watercolor painting. I work out compositional problems on the sketch, study the values, and they become my map to the painting.
Art Journaling 101 weekly challenge. This week I went back to sketching with Sharpie pens and coloring with colored pencils. This is a representation of my home...which I love. it's old and needs work, but I just adore it. I put two of our three cats in the window because that's where they live whenever we aren't home :)

Well I learned quickly that I can't draw worth a flip but it was still fun doodling away. I forgot how nice it is to just do something without pressure to perform and be perfect. Awww. That was nice.
Just a composition book journal...but decided to paint and collage the cover...layered gesso, acrylic paints, and various ephemera, some hand painted xstitch canvas pieces, pieces from a sewing pattern, cloth measuring tape and some vinyl screen....*shrugs* Just fun stuff....I also attached a ribbon to tie it shut...
I love reading the journals at yurts, cabins, summits, and other cool places like Lone Star Geyser. A Polaroid and a sketch were our contributions to the Grizzly Ridge Yurt journal. What a fantastic weekend.
