Mixed media altered art journal with fabric, acrylic paint, vintage images from school books, pen and ink and metal brads

This was another journal that went missing, so the owner decided to send out loose pages to be decorated. Once done those who contribute are to mail back the completed pages.

The journal was originally an eye candy journal, but the owner made it into basically anything the artist wanted to do. :)

When we go explore other cities we tend to stay away from touristy spots and love seeing the city through a residents' eyes. There are a few touristy things (ferris wheel!), but I bet that no tourist has ever been to Galanga Thai Fusion, which is probably the best cheap food EVER. nom nom nom

Text: "Southern lives tell another story. It was the expansion of the cotton trade that supported the established of dedicated year-round potteries in South Carolina....great clay, alkaline glaze, and forced labor of enslaved peoples came together in production...one enslaved potter made his existence known through the crafting of a frame cup, recording the influence of African culture in Southern art."

My daughter bought me this awesome, little sketchbook for my birthday. This being the year of the metal tiger (Chinese Astrology), I decided to make a metal tiger sticker for the cover.

This is one of my altered journals. I take cheap journals with cheesy covers from the dollar store, recover the front and back covers with cute papers, ribbon and words (not on this one). Then replace the cover and add some ribbon to the wire binders.

I was once a member of the RPS, hence my ownership of this magazine.

Magazine covers usually show the publication’s best photographic/art work. I think that covers have some interest, particularly showing how tastes change over time. Such is the interest that there are several Flickr groups for the genre.

Aah, good memories. For an explanation (it's pretty hilarious if I do say so myself) go to my blog post about it here: www.abbeycatchat.com/2010/06/journal-challenge-day-8.html
