I've decided I want to write in my journal every day. From the age of ten until sometime freshmen year of high school, I wrote in one literally every single day. And I still have all of them. The other week I was looking through them and it made me wish I had kept that up. So now Imma try to again.
Anways, I colored him with Prismacolor pencils :)
My first attempt at digi art journaling in my simple, clean style, also my second LO without using a template (ever!). Kit was Baers Garten's "I have a Dream" from Scrapbook graphics. I carry my pencils, pens, and brushes in a leather pencil case - and here is the lineup: a mechanical pencil, white eraser, an 01 and 05 Zig Millenium pens (or Pigma Micron), 4 Niji waterbrushes (small, medium, large, and flat), a water soluble Pilot Varsity pen for some interesting ink washes, at least one watercolor pencil - usually sepia. My other 39 watercolor pencils are kept in a separate pouch and used where watermedia are not allowed. This is also blogged at:
Wreck This Journal - Infuse this page with a smell. I used a perfume called Secret Fantasy, I don't know what the brand is, but I assume it's Avon as it was from my Nan and Aunt and they always send me Avon goodies
This journal was made for a mother and son roadtrip from Iowa to Texas. The cover showed a section of the US showing all their stops, and the inside had pockets to save stuff along the way.
I pulled together all my favorite elements for this journal page, including some real postage stamps.

I try to spend at least a few minutes with each student each week...just talking or playing with them. I brought this book to the art center. One of my little girls first started coloring in the letters. Then I started talking about how beautiful this page could be if it was colored all over. I think she understood about coloring outside of the lines!
Cover made of fabric that has been painted, stamped and otherwise marked. Inside are pages of my original artwork, cardstock pages, unique paper quilting, assorted ephemera, and many pages are edged with photocopies of my original artwork.

Of course, we didn't learn until much later that you do the covers last, not first!
One other thing I didn't learn until it was too late, is culling some pages before you start.
Adding gesso, paint and other fun stuff increases the thickness of the book rapidly. According to one reference book, you should cull out pages before you start.
It's much harder to do after the fact, specially if you do "art" on back to back pages.
I have a lovely new printable journal kit in my shop.
