Another entry in my journal using the Artella Studio Kit (Old time arts, crafts and hobbies). The sewing page was perfect to show and tell the importance of passing on our skills to our children. Stamps are by Stamping Zoo (no longer in business) and notions are things I had lying around the house.

I have been asked numerous times to share my journals. These sketches are the preparation I do before watercolor painting. I work out compositional problems on the sketch, study the values, and they become my map to the painting.

I like these open out pages. I'm trying to decide whether or not to dismantle and resew my next journal with vintage pages too.
If I could find the right journals, I'd put more journal paintings up because they're amazing. Better viewed from a larger size.
I turned an old atlas into an altered journal. For the cover I used a piece of a US postal bag.

The decorative paper was hand painted & drawn and the spine is goat leather. The detail on the leather was stitched with my sewing machine.
I am attempting to restart art journaling - I figure the easiest way is to stick with my little planner I made and just cover it up each day - 5"x2" isn't that hard to fill so this should be an easy way to get back into it.
My goals in art journaling: express what I am feeling/doing on a certain day in a way that someone can't sneak and "Read my diary" per se and violate my privacy. This way I can look at a visual image I have made and I know what I mean by the images but someone else doesn't necessarily. It also helps as a creative output.
