I have been asked numerous times to share my journals. These sketches are the preparation I do before watercolor painting. I work out compositional problems on the sketch, study the values, and they become my map to the painting.
This is just a random mishmash of a lot of different stuff. The Unicorns in the top corner cracked me up...not what you usually think of when you think of a unicorn. The face is from Tesha Moore's journal art pages. She has some awesome stuff. Pastels, watercolor, clippings, metallic marker, crayon, colored pencil, sharpie.
This, my friends, is the front entrance to the Journal & Courier. Of course, I pretty much never use this entrance, unless I walked to something downtown or I left my keycard at my desk. But the "employee" entrance, isn't nearly as cute. :)
This Music Journal with lined paper is the first of its kind! This cloth hard cover journal was bound using the case binding method. Inside is handmade paper that is line for composing.

A selection of new block print journals I have been working on. They are not Moleskine, but are constructed much like them, with the elastic closure and the interior pocket. These were printed first with a layer of white ink, then a layer of silver on top.
This unique handmade journal is individually made with recycled paper, mulberry paper and photographs - size A5 (7" x 5"), 40 pages.

Each journal has a ribbon page-marker with charm, the spine is covered with recycled cord or denim material and covered front and back with transparency film for protective purposes.

The idea for these journals came during a healers retreat in Scotland in Summer 2009; most retreat participants travelled with hand luggage only and when it came to noting experiences and teachings, beautiful notebooks or journals were not available to note down our insights and thoughts.
Whilst at the retreat, Moonpoppy developed a love of photography and was delighted to take some stunning shots of the surrounding Bay. From these photographs, she made birthday journals for friends and they were received so well, the idea for making the journals available for others was borne, incorporating as many recycled material as possible.
We hope you enjoy using the journals just as much as we love creating them for you.
I combined assignments 35 and 34 to make this work. I used the wrap this page to "wrap" the Wreck this Journal that I gave my friend Gabby. I was flicking through the book and and I saw the give away your favorite page. I figured that since I was already giving away a page, I may as well decorate it like some of my favorites.
