I entered a little art contest this past week & here's my entry. A 'playground' themed journal cover. And ok, not such a little contest, probably a few thousand entries so mine is likely to get lost in the mix somewhere, but it was SO great to work to brief again & now I have another portfolio piece! Yay!

Journal Prompt: Completely fill your page with line design!
Yes I cheated - there are some non-lines in here too :)
A previous journal was finished before the next journal was ready for use. So I had to quickly make a new journal to haul me over from the old one to the new one. I called it the In Between Journal.

My fabric pile in the den just keeps growing...I buy cotton shirts and wool sweaters at the thrift store to cut up and use the fabric in projects, but I never seem to get to the projects.
For this journal I plucked pieces from 3 shirts from the "fabric tree" (My daughter says it still needs some serious trimming.. :P). I made the covers with a layer of batting in the middle for some heft. The closure is a shirt cuff right from the shirt. I sewed in assorted papers for the signatures...Voila! It was easy and I love the way it came out!
No matter whenever (and wherever) I have voted in elections —local, state, and national— I have felt proud and emotional, humbled that I should be given the amazing privilege to vote.
Let's make Election Day a national holiday. Let's institute a two-week period for early voting nationwide. And let's finally constitutionally guarantee the right to vote.
I voted!
