Plitvice Lakes National Park - Waters flowing over limestone & chalk have, over thousands of years, deposited travertine barriers, creating natural dams which in turn have created a series of beautiful lakes, caves and waterfalls.

Yet again it all comes to our expectations and my expectation of the Plitvice Lakes NP was really high. What I didnt realize was that when you come early autumn there wont be that much water making you really search for any waterfalls instead of being surrounded by them all the time. The fact that many Asian countries have found out about this place didnt help either, therefore you have to push yourself through crowds and crowds of countless bus tourists, mainly from China.... not an experience you would have dreamt of. If you ever think about coming to this place, I'd recommend March or April when there is plenty of water that make this place so special.

Croatia has so many wonderful locations to explore, if you want to check some of them, these Croatian timelapses capture treasures Croatia has to offer :

Marken is a peninsula in the IJsselmeer, the Netherlands, located in the municipality Waterland in the province North Holland. It is a former island, which nowadays is connected to the North Holland mainland by a causeway. Also, Marken is a well-known tourist attraction, well-known for its characteristic wooden houses.

The lighthouse is commonly known as the 'Horse of Marken' because of its characteristic shape with the tall, built-on keeper's house. Most probably it is, after the 'Brandaris' on Terschelling, the best-known and the most frequently photographed lighthouse of the Netherlands. The present lighthouse was built in 1839, upon the foundations of an earlier tower that was broken down that same year. The Zuyder Zee still was open sea by then and the lighthouse was of great importance for the shipping traffic to and from Amsterdam.

*A black bear cub rides his mom’s back in Cades Cove, Tennessee.

With all the talk about snow and cold weather, I thought everyone would like to look back on a photograph from a nice spring day on May 23, 2023.

I never know what is just around the corner to photograph, and that’s one of the reasons I love photography.

This day proved exciting as I found a black bear cub climbing on his mom’s back, and his brother wanted to join the fun.

The Roman Forum (Latin: Forum Romanum), sometimes known by its original Latin name, is located between the Palatine hill and the Capitoline hill of the city of Rome. It is the central area around which the ancient Roman civilization developed. Citizens referred to the location as the "Forum Magnum" or just the "Forum". The oldest and most important structures of the ancient city are located in the forum, including its ancient former royal residency the Regia and the surrounding complex of the Vestal virgins.

Those columns belong to the Temple of Saturn (Latin: Templum Saturni or Aedes Saturnus). It is a monument to the agricultural deity Saturn that stands at the western end of the Forum Romanum in Rome. It represents the oldest surviving structure in that area, having been established between 501 and 498 BC.

The original plan for the blue hour shoot was to walk through the Forum Romanum to the Colosseum and take photos there. Unfortunately the walk way through Forum Romanum was closed (it was opened two years ago when I've been there last time) and we would have to rush all the way around to get there in time. I have seen lights pointing at the Temple of Saturn and was hoping for some nice blue hour shot of the lit forum, however another surprise as revealed that the light has lit only on the further church. I was very disappointed at first, but looking at the shot now, I quite like the atmosphere and the result.

The Gefion Fountain (Danish: Gefionspringvandet) is a large fountain on the harbour front in Copenhagen, Denmark. It features a large-scale group of animal figures being driven by the legendary Norse goddess, Gefjun. It is located in Langelinie Park next to Kastellet and is the largest monument in Copenhagen and used as a wishing well.

The fountain depicts the mythical story of the creation of the island of Zealand on which Copenhagen is located. The legend appears in Ragnarsdrápa, a 9th century Skaldic poem recorded in the 13th century Prose Edda, and in Ynglinga saga as recorded in Snorri Sturluson's 13th century Heimskringla.

According to Ynglinga saga, the Swedish king Gylfi promised Gefjun the territory she could plow in a night. She turned her four sons into oxen, and the territory they plowed out of the earth was then thrown into the sea between Sweden and the island of Fyn in Denmark. The hole became a lake called Lögrinn and Leginum (locative). Snorri identifies the lake Löginn, as the lake of Old Sigtuna west of Stockholm, i.e., Lake Mälaren, an identification that he returns to later in the Saga of Olaf the Holy.

Diesel locomotive 2TE116-1078 of BaltTransService (BTS) hauls the oil tanks train at the join of "Ghost Road" -- old railway line, that connected the Kozmodem'yansk station at main line of Northern Railway and Tenino station of Rybinsk direction bypassing Yaroslavl.

Probably, this road wasn't built completely: on old maps it is shown as "building" or as "disassembled". And now I stand on a mound, overgrown with grass, that stretches to the right of me for about 20+ kilometers.

The sunflower is native to the Central Americas. The evidence thus far is that it was first domesticated in Mexico, by at least 2600 BC. Many indigenous American peoples used the sunflower as the symbol of their solar deity, including the Aztecs and the Otomi of Mexico and the Incas in South America. Francisco Pizarro was the first European to encounter the sunflower in Tahuantinsuyo, Peru. Gold images of the flower, as well as seeds, were taken back to Spain early in the 16th century. Some researchers argue that the Spaniards tried to suppress cultivation of the sunflower because of its association with solar religion and warfare.
