Durdle Door is one of the most photographed landmarks along the Jurassic Coast. This rock arch in the sea was formed as a result of the softer rocks being eroded away behind the hard limestones, allowing the sea to punch through them. Eventually the arch will collapse to leave a sea stack such as those that can be seen at Ladram Bay in East Devon. Below the cliffs lies a sweeping beach that was once three separate coves.

Europe - UK - United Kingdom - England - Somerset - Weston-Super-Mare - Coastal town & seaside resort with 2nd highest tidal range in world, which can be up to 15 meters - Causeway to Knightstone Island during extremely high tide - Sunset time

This is one of those unique locations that I never forget to arrive to. I got there with this high tide photo in mind, however when I reached this seaside town, I saw the sea being literally miles away from the shore. I thought to myself, how will the sea come all the way from there (miles away) to here, and go high enough to cover this walkway. It did at the end, as it was full moon when the tide is always the highest. Later on when I did some more internet research I found out that this place has the 2nd highest tidal range in world, which explained a lot. Very unique place !

The left side of this photo is where the sea water remains during low tide, so the people can still swim, when the sea is far away again. Very useful invention, which can be found in some other English locations as well as in Brittany, France where tidal difference can be very significant too.

If there is a place, most photographers wish to capture Northern lights, it surely must be Jökulsárlón - the Glacier Lagoon in Iceland. Very special location to visit any time of the day or year, especially when there are giant icebergs flowing into the ocean (which is not necessarily all the time). Imagine the best conditions for Northern Lights - clear sky with millions of stars reflected on perfectly mirror like surface of the lagoon, no wind, temperature just below freezing, then you get I what I got last time around.

One of the newest additions of different seascape photos since my last visit in Cyprus. It might not be the biggest boat by today's standards, but still big enough to give rather eerie feeling when you stand nearby. You can get the scale of it by looking at the car and people figures on the right side.

I wanted to return to these now iconic Moravian rolling fields for some time. The timing is very important and it was perfect this year. Amazing weather, wonderfully fresh bright spring green fields and many trees in bloom (not these ones). However I could not express how big my surprise was to find endless crowds of photographers from so many different countries in the middle of those fields. Complete shock to see the power of internet in this previously unknown and unheard location. Luckily you have to shoot with very big zoom lens 95% of the time, so you don't have to capture, and therefore avoid, the crowd you are forced to be part of. Timing is extremely important here, as the landscape that is pure magic of playful light and shadow game about 30 mins after sunrise or before sunset for about an hour, turns completely flat after that.

These little chapels are dotted all around the landscape. The history tells us that they were built so the farm workers could worship during the long working days.

Manarola is the second of the five hamlets found in Cinque Terre, a collection of tiny fishing villages perched along the Ligurian Coast. The tiny harbor at Manarola features a boat ramp, picturesque buildings tripping down the ravine and the town's swimming hole. Although there is no real beach here, it has some of the best deep-water swimming around.

Perched on a steep cape of dark rock, with its small port enclosed by two rocky boulders, a village of ancient origins found by the inhabitants of the (probably Roman) Volastra settlement. Manarola, like the other Cinque Terre villages, is known for its tower-houses; the layout of the village develops around the subsurface course of the Groppo stream which marks out its main axis. From the sunken stream a series of narrow stone-paved streets lead off towards houses and vegetable gardens on both sides of the cape. Parallel to the main axis runs the Via di Mezzo (Middle Street) that used to be a particularly important byway before the stream was covered over. Above the houses there lies an interesting square in which all the religious buildings are located. Another peculiarity of Manarola is a pyramid in white cement whose peak can be seen rising between the taller houses and is used as a navigational reference point for all those at sea.

If there is one word that best captures Dongchuan Red Land, it must be "palette". It is such an amazing spectacle that you can never imagine if you have never been there. God knocked over his palette, dropping the heaven paint, which makes Dongchuan such a stunning masterpiece. Red, green, white and yellow are matched into rolling rainbow ribbons stretching to sky.

Dongchuan, a rural area in the northeast of Kunming, is believed that it has the world's most imposing red earth, even more magnificent than that in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Because of the warm and humid climate in Yunnan, the Iron oxide in the soil deposited slowly through years and gradually developed an extraordinary reddish brown soil. It is seldom visited by general tourists for its remoteness, however, the land with picturesque scenery is paradise for photography fans.

Dongchuan Red Land offers the most attractive colors in China. It is decorated with multi-color crops. Fiery red soil, emerald green barley, golden yellow buckwheat and snow white oil flowers against the floating clouds, ever-changing light and the deep blue sky make a marvelous painting, bringing not only the strongest visual impact. It becomes the mecca for passionate photographers around the China. This is another one of my most visited areas of our photo tours in the late spring and the fall.

2018 New year's fireworks had fabulous weather conditions. Full Moon, clear sky, light wind blowing the smoke away from my location. Just the dream come true after multiple years. It was also a first test to turn it into timelapse sequence which went well and it is now part of the latest timelapse post.

Prague, the capital city of Czechia, is a beautiful place to visit during any time of the year, but its magic really comes out during festive Christmas & New Year time. Prague's Christmas markets are often ranked in TOP 10 in Europe.

Watching the sun rise or set over the sand dunes of Merzouga may be the most spectacular experience you have on your trip to Morocco. The Erg Chebbi, the name of these sand dunes, is said to have some of the highest dunes in Morocco. Indeed, the dunes and the desert wildlife are impressive.

The dunes of Erg Chebbi is a strikingly strange natural formation. On the top of the flattest area you could imagine, suddenly a long mountain of sand rises. This mountain is surrounded by flat and desolate nature on all sides, and you could end up wondering if it really is real. But so it is, even if its existence is so weird that it has given rise to lengeds and myths among the locals. One legend tells us that the dunes of Erg Chebbi were created by God as a punishment to the locals of nearby Merzouga after they refused to give shelter to a woman and her child during a local festival. A sandstorm came, and buried the village of Merzouga is it was then.

Morocco and especially Sahara desert with its very dark skies is perfect for seeing and also capturing the night sky with the glorious Milky Way. The sky in the desert is wonderfully dark with minimum light pollution, which gives a great sight, which you can also see in the :

This timelapse video offers night view at some iconic or less known locations in various parts of Morocco, might it be Sahara desert, Ksar Aït Benhaddou (UNESCO), High Atlas Mountains & Toubkal National Park or Telouet Kasbah along former caravan route from Sahara over Atlas Mountains to Marrakech.

Paphos Fort might not be the most impressive castle I have ever seen, but the location on a lovely crystal clear beach of Mediterranean Sea helps to come up with at least bit more interesting photo of otherwise rather simple square box building.

Hoo’s Last by Nic Joynson

33012 and 33103 join forces on an additional Hoo Junction to Southall working of imported aggregate from Foster Yeoman at Grain. They are seen here at the start of their journey, which will take them via Dartford, Lewisham, Kensington Olympia and Acton.

I believe this working was in conjunction with the construction of the ‘Heathrow Express’ rail link.

By 1994 finding hotspots of class 33 operation was distinctly difficult, but one was engineering trains around Hoo Junction.

On 1st November 1994 I found a total of 6 class 33s working at Hoo Junction, including this pair. This was my last visit to Hoo in the days when class 33s were working. In reality they continued operation on trains around Hoo for another 4 years.

These two locomotives were withdrawn in February 1997. Both survived into preservation,

: in 2020 33012 is based on the Swanage Railway while 33103 is based on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway.
