Europe - UK - United Kingdom - England - Northumberland - North East of England - Mary's Lighthouse - Whitley Bay - Tyne & Wear Coast - Tidal island linked to mainland by concrete causeway which is submerged at periods of high tide
St Mary's Lighthouse, near Whitley Bay, is on a tidal island which is linked to the mainland by a concrete causeway which is submerged at periods of high tide. The lighthouse and adjacent keepers' cottages were built in 1898. The lighthouse was decommissioned in 1984.
Reached between the tides via a short causeway from the car park, St. Mary's has all the fascination of a miniature, part-time island. Visitors can climb the 137 steps inside the tower to the lantern room to enjoy spectacular views along the North East coast of England. If you cannot manage the steps, a live video facility allows you to experience the same panorama at ground level.
One of those spectacular sunrises with fantastic colors. Just dont be fooled by the color of the lighthouse, it is not sunrise colors reflected, it has rather unusual purple color illumination.

Durdle Door is one of the most photographed landmarks along the Jurassic Coast. This rock arch in the sea was formed as a result of the softer rocks being eroded away behind the hard limestones, allowing the sea to punch through them. Eventually the arch will collapse to leave a sea stack such as those that can be seen at Ladram Bay in East Devon. Below the cliffs lies a sweeping beach that was once three separate coves.

Europe - Croatia - Hrvatska - Central Dalmatia - Krka National Park - Nacionalni park Krka - Famous waterfall area
Less known than Plitvice Lakes, but equally stunning, the Krka National Park is situated along the Krka River in southern Croatia. It's known for a series of 7 waterfalls. In the south, Skradinski Buk waterfall is flanked by traditional watermills. To the north, a nature trail passes another striking cascade, Roški Slap.

Europe - Czech Republic - Czechia - Jižní Morava - South Moravia - Moravské Toskánsko - Moravian Tuscany - Soft rolling hills - Slavná Moravská pole - in the autumn
I wanted to return to these now iconic Moravian rolling fields after this year great spring visit. The timing is very important and it the weather was perfect yet again. Although I already knew how busy this place can get, I was still surprised to find endless crowds of photographers from so many different countries in the middle of those fields. Complete shock to see the power of internet in this previously unknown and unheard location. Luckily you have to shoot with very big zoom lens 95% of the time, so you don't have to capture, and therefore avoid, the crowd you are forced to be part of. Timing is extremely important here, as the landscape that is pure magic of playful light and shadow game about 30 mins after sunrise or before sunset for about an hour, turns completely flat after that.
Since this spring visit I was wondering how to turn this seemingly motionless landscape into timelapse. I got some ideas and here is the result. See it for yourself :

Ever since road tripping in Australia I had a fascination for Boab / Baobab trees and any similar species.
Brachychiton rupestris, commonly known as the narrow-leaved bottle tree or Queensland bottle tree, is a tree in the family Malvaceae native to Queensland, Australia. Discovered and described by Sir Thomas Mitchell and John Lindley in 1848, it gained its name from its bulbous trunk, which can be up to 3.5 metres diameter at breast height. Reaching 10–25 metres high, the Queensland bottle tree is deciduous, losing its leaves between September and December. The leaves are simple or divided, with one or more narrow leaf blades up to 11 centimetres long and 2 centimetres wide. Cream flowers appear from September to November, and are followed by woody boat-shaped follicles that ripen from November to May.

No single Northern Lights photo does true justice to what is happening on the sky during those unique moments when Northern Lights appear. I've headed back to Frozen land of Arctic Lapland to capture Northern Lights under snowy landscape, which is often difficult to find along the coast. Average temperatures around - 25C dont make it particularly friendly experience, but the one which will always be treasured.

KCS Fort Smith Dodger crossing the Choctaw Route at Howe, OK. The G Heads and red and yellow engines of the Arkansas and Oklahoma make it clear that this is the Rock Island. Even outside of the Illinois Division there is no denying that the Rock Island still lives on 43 years later. Will the Southern Belle be alive and ever present in 43 years? I bet the Rock will.

Czech Republic might be located in the middle of Europe, with the nearest sea located about 700km far away, however once upon the time, it used to be submerged in warm tropical sea waters. Main evidence of that are very unique multiple rocky sandstone towns created by forces of nature through millennia.
There are 4 different areas or those spectacular rocky towns - Bohemian Switzerland National Park (České Švýcarsko Národní park), Bohemian Paradise Protected Landscape Area (Český Ráj), Kokořínsko Protected Landscape Area & Adršpach.
This timelapse video captures some iconic locations in the first 3 mentioned areas.

Europe - Portugal - Região Norte - North Region - Amarante - Cathedral of Saint Goncalo next to Ponte São Gonçalo - Large arched bridge over Tâmega River
Yet one more of those lesser known places in Portugal - Amarante. Despite most of the town not being very appealing, the historical center with its stunning cathedral and ancient bridge are real gems, certainly worth the visit, add perfectly calm river mirroring the scene above and shot like this can be created.

I have discovered this brand new wonderful mountain road to the highest mountain of UAE several months ago. I wanted to capture it bit differently than most, so I went for the super long exposure of 170 seconds to get the long light trail of cars. I originally thought that I might have to wait long for any cars to come up or down as it is one way road leading only to the top. I had no idea how popular this place is with people driving up and down all night long ! (I stayed there for full moon timelapse sequence)
This wonderful place is also featured in Night Sky around the World Time-Lapse Video among many other interesting and unique locations around the world.

Europe - Portugal - Região Norte - North Region - Porto - Oporto - Capela do Senhor da Pedra - Lord of the Rock - Iconic hexagonal design chapel built on top of rock situated right on shoreline of Atlantic ocean
This chapel has been on my list for some time and it didnt disappoint, well at least at the end. I drove to this location directly from the Lisbon airport in possibly worse weather I have experienced in Portugal during various trips. First 2 days were complete write off, in terms of photography for the apocalyptic rain that was falling on this wonderful country. However the 3rd day, the sky opened up and I was rewarded with one of the most spectacular sunset in a very long time. I should not forget to mention that the wonderful sneaky Atlantic Ocean washed me over completely 2x . There is nothing more fun to do, than standing completely wet in rather chilly December day. Things we do for photography !

It is amazing what a twilight can do. It has been very gloomy and dull looking day all day, but once the street lamps went on and darkness started to descent on this cute town, it all turned into magical moment. One major thing to mention about many monuments in Swiss is, how little they are illuminated at night. It is not for economic reasons like in Spain for example (where you often find major monuments illuminated only during weekend, if at all), but due to consideration for animals and birds, so they dont get disturbed at night. This is a case also for this church, as I had rather large difficulties to determine if it is actually illuminated or not yer or anymore by simply looking at it. Luckily the church is white and it reflects enough of the very weak lighting, therefore if you push the sensitivity of your camera more than you would normally do during similar circumstances, you get result like this.

The IJmeer is a bordering lake in the Netherlands. It lies between the polder De Nes (in Waterland), Pampushaven, Hollandse Brug and the mouth of the IJ in IJburg, straddling the provinces of North Holland and Flevoland.

Europe - Germany - Deutschland - Saxony - Sachsen - Saxon Switzerland National Park - Sächsische Schweiz - Hilly climbing area around the Elbe valley - Elbe/Labe Sandstone Mountains - Bizarre & intriguing landscape with huge, smooth rocks & deep, narrow valleys & gorges - Bastei - Rock formation towering 194 metres above the Elbe River with Wehlnadel needle, a climbing rock in the foreground.
One of those wonderful moments when the entire landscape bathed in the beautiful morning mist. Bastei at night is also location which I used for my timelapse sequence in my latest video "Night sky around the world".

No single Northern Lights photo does true justice to what is happening on the sky during those unique moments when Northern Lights appear. After incredible experience of capturing my first ever timelapse in Iceland last year, I've headed to Frozen land of Arctic Lapland to capture Northern Lights under snowy landscape, which is often difficult to find along the coast. Average temperatures around - 25C dont make it particularly friendly experience, but the one which will always be treasured.

Watching the sun rise or set over the sand dunes of Merzouga may be the most spectacular experience you have on your trip to Morocco. The Erg Chebbi, the name of these sand dunes, is said to have some of the highest dunes in Morocco. Indeed, the dunes and the desert wildlife are impressive.
The dunes of Erg Chebbi is a strikingly strange natural formation. On the top of the flattest area you could imagine, suddenly a long mountain of sand rises. This mountain is surrounded by flat and desolate nature on all sides, and you could end up wondering if it really is real. But so it is, even if its existence is so weird that it has given rise to lengeds and myths among the locals. One legend tells us that the dunes of Erg Chebbi were created by God as a punishment to the locals of nearby Merzouga after they refused to give shelter to a woman and her child during a local festival. A sandstorm came, and buried the village of Merzouga is it was then.
Morocco and especially Sahara desert with its very dark skies is perfect for seeing and also capturing the night sky with the glorious Milky Way. The sky in the desert is wonderfully dark with minimum light pollution, which gives a great sight, which you can also see in the :

This timelapse video offers night view at some iconic or less known locations in various parts of Morocco, might it be Sahara desert, Ksar Aït Benhaddou (UNESCO), High Atlas Mountains & Toubkal National Park or Telouet Kasbah along former caravan route from Sahara over Atlas Mountains to Marrakech.
