Hey guys, as you may have seen I had launched a Star Trek Story Group after I realized there wasn't one on flickr, now the only thing this story group needs, is you! In this story group you can pitch a pilot (app) for any captain, or any crew member from any series, or go your own way and create your own captain, and their crew, you can see the full details on the group discussion. Currently there are three admins in the STSG, Liv], John, and I, if you have any questions FM one of us. Anyways I hope that you join today, and begin writing a pilot for us to review soon, and as always, have a good day.

The dunes of Erg Chebbi are a magical destination, full of magnetism and mystery with easy access for all travelers. If you want to visit Morocco, this jewel of the Sahara is a place not to be missed. The Dunes of Erg Chebbi are a unique natural spectacle, where giant sand dunes stand up in the middle of the dark volcanic cobalt plateaus of Sahara Desert.

The legend of Erg Chebbi / Merzouga tells that the largest sand dunes in Morocco appeared as a punishment from God to wealthy families who refused to accept a poor woman with her son at a party while they were washing hands with milk and playing with balls of couscous. These people were then buried by sand storms and strong winds that formed large dunes with the highest measure of around 160 meters above sea level.

Morocco and especially Sahara desert with its very dark skies is perfect for seeing and also capturing the night sky with the glorious Milky Way. The sky in the desert is wonderfully dark with minimum light pollution, which gives a great sight, which you can also see in the :

a great group full of whack jobs :)

this was a strange one for me today we went on a random jump in the car day trip today and ended up on a rainy Portmarmock beach just outside of Dublin.

when we got there the reflections of the sky was fantastic but rain chased us off the beach. so we hid in the car and waited for the rain to pass

so i jumped out of the car and ran down the beach to take my FDT shot before the rain started again just in time a catch a pretty sweet rainbow :)

and just as i was lining up my camera my phone rang and it was a girl from the Gas board calling about setting up a time for a service for my boiler. i knew the rainbow was only going to be there for a few seconds so i took my FDT shot while on the phone to the gas board, i kept it to my ear on the other side so as to hide it from the camera

and they say men cant multi-task :)

After VIA 602 (train in the background) has stopped at the station and cleared the platform, it will be VIA 606's turn to make its passenger exchange. Once the switch is cleared, the 606's engineer will put it back in position allowing 602 to couple behind his train. The two trains will then continue their journey toward Montreal as a single convoy.

This dramatic image was captured on my visit to Iceland March 2017 during an absolutely stunning sunset. It seems that the vast majority of images that I see of this plane are taken up close but I really wanted to place the plane within the harsh natural landscape and to show you what most images do not, the majestic snow capped mountains that serve as the beautiful backdrop.

I walked for what seemed like hours to reach this black volcanic sand dune which afforded me the elevated position I was wanting. All I had to do was to endure the fierce wind and try to protect the tripod and camera while the low light slowed the shutter speed to 1/15 sec at ISO800. I was shooting on the 50mp Canon 5Ds which does not handle low light well with increased levels of noise present due to cramming so many mega pixels on a full frame sensor. So I did not want to shoot using a higher ISO than 800 so I was somewhat restricted.

Still I am very happy with how it all turned out. The 4km walk back in the dark during a snow storm that kicked in just as everybody left and the sky turned black was bloody harsh but the images captured were more than worth it.

The story surrounding the plane crash is that on Saturday, November 24, 1973, a Douglas Super DC-3 of the United States Navy is on its way to an unknown location in Iceland, when it was forced to crash land on Sólheimasandur beach near the famous town of Vik.

The official reason for the crash is still unknown. Some say the aircraft experienced severe icing over the black beach, while other sources report the pilot just switched over to the wrong fuel tank making the aircraft run out of fuel. The crew and passengers thankfully all survived the crash.

Went up to top of the mountain Mirnock - 2110m - on Wednesday morning with a friend. Got up at 4 am and after about an hour of hiking we arrived at around 6:15 at summit cross. We waited up there for about half an hour until the first rays of morning light brightened up the day.

Always very special to start a day this way and really worth getting up early! Was a brilliant and clear day without any clouds and we were also able to get a view on to the highest mountain in Austria, the Großglockner - 3.798m, from up there!

I recently visited this beautiful lake, named after the nearby town of Banyoles. It’s located in the Province of Girona, and it’s the largest natural lake in Catalonia. I must say that I have a great time there. I started walking early in the morning with a thin blanket of storm clouds in the sky but at some point the sun started to shine.

Jökulsárlón (lit. "Glacier Lagoon") is the largest glacier lagoon or lake in Iceland. Situated in south eastern Iceland, at the head of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier branching from the Vatnajökull, between Skaftafell National Park and Höfn, it evolved into a lagoon after the glacier started receding from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. The lake has grown since then at varying rates because of melting of the Icelandic glaciers.

I guess every and each landscape photographer is dreaming of capturing Jökulsárlón - Glacier Lagoon at least once in his/hers life and of course we all dream about perfect conditions... and I call myself very lucky to have experienced several stunning sunsets over this amazing place !!

Timelapse movies had become my new way of capturing my travels besides regular photography.

The Persian Gulf, in the Southwest Asian region, is an extension of the Indian Ocean located between Iran and the Arabian Peninsula. Historically and commonly known as the Persian Gulf, this body of water is sometimes controversially referred to as the Arabian Gulf by some Arab states or simply The Gulf. The Persian Gulf consists of mostly shallow, highly saline waters with some coral reefs growing offshore near Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. A few areas of scattered coral has developed near the shore but cannot grow much due to the temperature and light variations.

This photo was taken on Enjefa Beach during wonderful morning after yet another 4.44AM wake up call. Enjefa Beach is great location for photography as it still remain as shores of Kuwait used to be, its sands, rocks, and shells still have not been removed. During this particular photoshoot, low tide has revealed some interesting rock/formal coral formations. I chose this one as it looks like fingers pointing towards the sea.

Lothian Buses operated Volvo B5TL Wright Eclipse Gemini 3 Stealth SF17 VNV - 484 - is pictured on Princes Street in Edinburgh with a service on route X26 towards Port Seton.

This vehicle wears a partially revised Lothian Fleet Of The Future livery, retaining the thicker diagonal gold outlines but with the gold hook on the sides removed. It carries Edinburgh Zoo branding in the form of being the Penguin Bus and requests you join the parade. Would you like to join the parade to Edinburgh Zoo? Well you'd need to ask the penguins where their parade starts from as I have no clue and I doubt they'd go along the entire bus route lol.
