Shot that might have been taken in one of those beautiful mosques of Iran, however true is that it was taken in Kuwait. We went for photoshoot with my friend Mohammad and Noor for blue hour photos, but got there little earlier to be able to capture some of its great interior. It was shortly after sunset with still enough light outside. You can however see that the lights at the mosque were on and created nice additional element in the photo.
Abstract decoration of the surface is an important factor in every work of Islamic art and architecture, whether large or small. Curving and often interlaced lines, of which the arabesque is a typical example, and the use of brilliant colors characterize almost all of the finest productions, which are of greatly varied styles. Islamic art eschews the realistic representation of human beings and animals, and its floral designs are extremely distant from their original models. While the prohibition against depicting living forms is not contained in the Qur'an, it is widely thought that the non-representational character of Islamic ornament has its source in the traditional theological prohibition against imitating God's works.

This photo is from my last visit to Monells, a medieval town in the comarca (county) of the Baix Empordà, not far from Girona in the North-Est of Catalonia. It is a small village but walking across the cobbled streets you can feel like you get a few centuries back in time.
Vilanova street was mostly constructed during the XVII and XVIII centuries when a lot of houses were built on the top of the city walls remains defining the current city layout; in many houses you will find date inscription stones referring to that period. In fact, Monell’s streets and squares are an example of the architectonic evolution throw different ages. Besides this newer houses, you can find parts of the roman walls and the ancient defense towers. And the “Plaça de l’Oli” (Olive Square) and the “Carrer dels Arcs” (Arches Street) are from the Gothic period.
I got there after a long morning visiting Peratallada and Pals. Monells was not part of the original plan but I’m happy for this last minute change. If you are planning a trip to Girona or the Costa Brava reserve time for a day trip to these villages and if you don’t get so tired you will also have time to visit the nearby Madremanya, Palau-Sator, or the Iberian City of Ullastret. Have you ever been in this area? Which is your favorite town?
Heaven joined us for a small group shoot at the Caldwell Underpass on a lovely day in May 2021. I tend to shoot with Heaven about once a year (she is very busy); I know that she will come prepared, with a great attitude and plenty of looks. We always have a great time and end up with way too many photos that are post worthy - oh well - I can live with that!

Europe - Portugal - Região Norte - North Region - Porto - Oporto - Capela do Senhor da Pedra - Lord of the Rock - Iconic hexagonal design chapel built on top of rock situated right on shoreline of Atlantic ocean
This chapel has been on my list for some time and it didnt disappoint, well at least at the end. I drove to this location directly from the Lisbon airport in possibly worse weather I have experienced in Portugal during various trips. First 2 days were complete write off, in terms of photography for the apocalyptic rain that was falling on this wonderful country. However the 3rd day, the sky opened up and I was rewarded with one of the most spectacular sunset in a very long time. I should not forget to mention that the wonderful sneaky Atlantic Ocean washed me over completely 2x . There is nothing more fun to do, than standing completely wet in rather chilly December day. Things we do for photography !

London N7. 25 May 2015. They love the blossom which is just emerging and a feeding frenzy is under way. I marvel at how much blossom survives despite their ravenous appetites. Only the Wood Pigeons join in the feast, the Ferrell Pigeons prefer human detritus.

Bhaktapur, situated at an altitude of 1401 meters, is a home of medieval art and architecture. The urban city covers an area of 4 square miles. Shaped like a conch shell, Bhaktapur means “the city of devotees”. Pottery and weaving are its traditional industries. The city lies about 14 kilometers east of Kathmandu and can be reached by public transport and by trolly buses. The major sightseeing places in Bhaktapur includes Durbar Square. The main square of the city contains innumerable temples and other architectural showpieces like: the Lion Gate, a statue of King Bhupatindra Malla, a picture Gallery, the Golden Gate, the palace of 55 Windows, the Batsala Temple, the Bell of Barking Dogs, and a replica of Pashupatinath Temple.
