35/52 This is a completely random collection of pictures in my parents' home. They are all so familiar to me that I can see them without even looking at them. I know where each hangs and just assume they'll be there every time I go home. It would be very jarring to walk in the front door and not see the Alaskan Village hanging right there in the front hall or to sit in the living room if the picture of the birds was gone. There is something very comforting and reassuring about going home and being surrounded by little things that are just as you remembered them.

Clockwise: A handmade card I bought in Nevis for my mom, a picture of Morro Bay taken by my mom, a picture of birds bought at the Monterey Aquarium and a picture by the Alaskan artist, Rae Munoz.

More sketching for my upcoming project .... getting there bit by bit. :)

You know you're Canadian when you're happy that the temperature is about -11C in February. It was nice not to have -26C windchills for errand running today and a lovely light snow falling too.

What a fantabulous find I did have in my mailbox today after work from the Saskatchewanarama Pony!

I really don't think this photo does enough justice to the detail of this wonderful fabric postcard from my grrl Donna. I don't know if you can see that bit of sparkle to the blue fabric - it's just lovely.

Thank you soooo much my dear grrl! You made my day after a rough week of food poisoning, a cold and lack of sleep to boot! ox

Yes, Valentine's Day is just around the corner but that isn't the main reason I did a design like this. I have a few friends that have been having a rough time of it lately and I wanted to send some love and good vibes their way.

If you need some love too, feel free to take some from this .... ox

Fun afternoon out with friends today and got to ride on one of the vintage TTC streetcars. It was packed like rush hour on King Street but glad we made it out.

I hope you all had a great fun filled weekend like I did!

After a bit of nap after my sunrise adventure, I headed down to Harbourfront Centre for the Day of the Dead festival. I really love Toronto for all its great cultures, events and festivals.

And wonderful folks like this who are happy to pose for me.

The Zombie Walk here in Toronto is coming up on October 26th. Can't wait! And I know Joann can't wait for me to send some of the revellers to Montreal for her. ;)

I actually wanted to take another shot for my little thing yesterday but my little pink point and shoot camera has started acting up occasionally. Yesterday partway through the day it decided it wasn't even going to focus at all and shut itself off repeatedly. I'm going to try with buying some new rechargeable batteries for it and see if that helps but otherwise it may be dead Jim. Le sigh! :(

Some people collect fridge magnets, I am not one of them. My mother bought me this one, therefore it is very special and I have kept this 'little thing' ever since. Although she died on 22 April, I will always think of her passing on Good Friday which it was on that date. This afternoon we will drive to my sister's and stay overnight en route to my sister-in-law's in Wales as it breaks up the long journey to Wales. We do this every Easter, weather permitting. So it was seven years ago but on that occasion it happened to be the day my mother died. I have always said what a comfort it was to see her passing (we were with her until her heart stopped beating and it was if she had just gone to sleep). Living nearly 3 hours away it was absolute 'miracle' we happened to be there. My mother was catholic and saw great symbolism if it ever got dark on Good Friday afternoon, when Jesus was apparently crucified, and sure enough on that particular Good Friday the skies were black. I could just hear my mother's Irish voice saying "now will you just look at that, didn't I tell you it always gets dark"

Wishing you all a happy Easter break. See you next week:-)

My friend Jason (front row on the right) invited me to his bowling league's Christmas brunch today. It was a heck of a lot of fun! It include photo ops with a very unconventional Santa and a drag show with proceeds for the People With Aids organization. The group raised raised over $850 for the organization as well as ran a food drive that brought in many donations.

It was an absolute howl and so much fun for such a worthy cause. This is a photo of his bowling teammates with naughty Santa.

Now how's this for a coincidence?? I've been meaning to shoot these signs on Queen West for awhile. So tonight, I took my shot and then crossed the street to find this gentleman dancing outside of the store here! How fabulous is that? If only to have had him actually dancing between the signs but that's what Photoshop is for! ;)

A big thank you to Becky for asking me to come out to her to the CONTACT show at the Gladstone - 40 Years of Hip Hop. The photography is really wonderful and we got a chance to talk to one of the photographers, Jonathan Mannion, pictured here.

He was really down to earth, friendly and funny - especially when he found out that Becky was from Pittsburg ... he's from Cleveland. Comments about the Browns vs the Steelers and such went back and forth, but all in good humour.

He was the one that gave me the title for the photo and went through some of the other hand poses as well.

Fun night out - I'd suggest you go take a look if you get a chance!

Sometimes it's hard to focus on the little things in life that can make you happy.

I think I have my idea for my next 365 .... And no time like the present so let's get to it! Especially with such a nice example to start off the series. :)

... a hot shower, dry warm clothes and a nice cuppa after a two hour ball practice in the rain.

Good practice though and thankfully it wasn't cold but boy was it a soggy one and we were all pretty soaked by the end of it.

Met up with friends Maryse and John for brunch and a wander about Kensington Market. When we needed a break, we went to Moonbean for a nice iced latte on the back patio. Perfect! Good friends, a sunny day and yummy coffee along with a lovely bathroom message - what more could a grrl ask for?

For all my beautiful friends! oxo

I got a thank you card in the mail today from my Aunt Terry. I couldn't make it down to Windsor for her birthday party but made sure to get a gift to her in time. I printed up a few shots that I took during my visit with her and my cousin in July. She really liked them. :)

We had a good day out with friends - dim sum with some of the photo walk crew, coffee in Kensington Market then a wander about and then another coffee pitstop here in this little cafe on College Street.

Funny thing is that this birthday cupcake was bought by a stranger. A stranger that came into the cafe with a bouquet of flowers and a birthday song for Rosa who worked there. It then came up it was Jerome's birthday too and he bought Jerome this for his birthday. Candle courtesy of me - I had it and a pack of matches in my pocket for just such an emergency.

Then a young lady and her friend came in to get a cupcake for her birthday. Rosa turned to me and asked me if I had a spare candle which I did. :) What a great coincidence!

Happy birthday my friend - and maaaaaaany moooooooooooore!! Huuuuuuuugs!
