The word Iris means rainbow. Iris is the flower of the Greek goddess Iris who is the messenger of Love. In the language of flowers Iris symbolizes eloquence.

The meaning of the Greek word Iris means, rainbow. The plant of iris is named after the goddess 'Iris' because of its beauty and because of the varied colors in the flowers of this genus. In Greek legends and mythology, the goddess 'Iris' was the messenger who traveled on the rainbow between the lands of Human beings and the Gods. The flower of iris implies a message and a promise of hope. Iris flower meaning is often associated with valor and wisdom.

  

This purple and lavender colored tall bearded iris is called Social Graces. I found it at the iris flower garden in Van Saun Park. Van Saun park is one of the 21 Bergen county parks in the northeastern section of New Jersey. [ Explore 19 March 2011 ]

Thought I'd better show a pic of my irises before they're gone! The wind is blowing hard and their so delicate...sigh! These are about my only flowers other than a few tulips! Have a nice evening everyone! :)

I got off track with that last photo of the kitty. I forgot that I was supposed to be uploading photos of flowers. Okay, here's one. The beautiful Iris. And, isn't it beautiful? Well, I do declare that it is! :)

If I could buy something for my garden I would buy this Iris.
