The is the first all-purple iris that I've ever spotted. It was growing within the Joel E. Ferris Perennial Garden in Spokane, Washington.

Dwarf Iris 'Iris Reticulata' is one of the earliest blooming bulbs in spring, adding glorious blue/purple color to the garden.

Nome latino:

Iris Barbata spp. o Iris Germanica

Famiglia:

Iridaceae

Sacre bleu is an old French profanity, meant as a cry of surprise or anger.

I don't talk to flowers, they talk to me and I gladly listen, with my eyes!

A beautiful Blue Iris, just awakening and unfurling and being hit by light!!! Sacrebleu, it SCREAMED!!!

Irises can be very showy.

Hope this makes you smile again, have a good day and thank you for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*)

Iris x germanica is the accepted name for a species of flowering plants in the family Iridaceae commonly known as the bearded iris or the German iris. It is one of a group of hybrid origin.

Iris x germanica grows up to 120 cm high and 30 cm wide. It is a European hybrid, rather than a true wild species. The roots can go up to 10 cm deep and it is a rhizomatous perennial that blooms mid to late spring.

The large yellow irises are just beginning to bloom...Soon the purples will joining them as we watch the front garden come alive! :-)

This is technically called a White Bearded Iris-it just looks yellow to me!
