Iris japonica è un nativo della Cina , che cresce in margini di foreste e praterie aperte, ad altitudini da 500 a 800 m (1.600 a 2.600 ft). Una popolazione a 2.400 a 3.400 m (7.900 a 11.200 ft) in Cina sud-occidentale si crede di essere naturalizzato, invece di quello nativo. La specie è ampiamente coltivata.
I fiori azzurri sono da 4,5 a 5,5 centimetri (da 1,8 a 2.2 in) di larghezza, che fiorisce in primavera. [1]

The Bearded Iris are among my first spring flower blooms. I have two varieties - yellow and purple. Captured outdoors, natural light and a black background was added to create the composition.
They will be used in my floral note card collection (sold on Etsy.com)

It's that time of the year. The irises are blooming at the Presby Iris Garden in Montclair, NJ. It is a most spectacular garden with thousands of varieties and colors. The garden is filled with nature and flower lovers, photographers, and artists all enjoying the elegance and beauty of these flowers.

Made a split decision last night to go to the Schreiners Gardens with my BUD!
Thanks to my good Pal Eric letting me know about it. Didn't have long enough there! but what a wonderful place & need to go back again to focus on "other" flowers than just Iris! Had a busy, weekend with not much time on Flickr..so hope to catch up with you all today..:-)
