We went for a walk with friends along the canal du midi on Sunday. Funny to see these irises in flower in winter.

Iris at the San Diego Botanic Gardens

From the garden. Flash was fired. Objective was to get sharp details from top to bottom and whole flower in the frame. Lens is 100mm macro with ring flash.

Despite popular opinion, hybrid iris do not revert to the original genus. They only change color through cross pollination. This iris was blue two years ago.

In queste due illustrazione è chiaro che l’autore abbia voluto esplicitare il fatto che la Roma contemporanea – città adagiata su uno sfondo di vestigia classiche, chiese, cupole e campanili – abbia perso parte dell’antico splendore; è significativo inoltre che le uniche

persone presenti siano quattro giovani che oziano immersi tra rovine e vegetazione lussureggiante e una dozzina di fedeli, più alcuni prelati in abito scuro, intenti in quella che sembra una processione religiosa.
