Iris 'Golden Encore', 1972, excellent repeat bloomer here in September. Goes well with autumn purples and yellows in the borders. Thanks, Michael and Charles!
One of my flickr friends, Martin LaBar, recently posted a close-up of the beard of an iris. I thought I'd return the favor, as a thank you for his many lovely photos--always including interesting information about their subjects! I agree that God is a wonderful artist!

I forgot I had 2 different colors. This one bloomed today. This is the one with the yellow!
I am stuck in the house until Friday while my truck gets repaired. It is making me insane that I cant go anywhere while it is so beautiful. I think the spirits are taking pity on me by giving me flowers.
I included this one because of the hidden humour for me... I don't know if I am the only one but I see a face in this plant when viewed from this angle. Like the face of an aging aunt pursing her lips for a kiss.
Heritage iris 'Alcazar' - though my plant has not been formally identified by an iris expert.
This beauty is fertile both as pod parent and pollen parent with modern tall bearded iris. Some may wonder why I bother to cross back to a variety over 100 years old. It is because I like the elegant fleur-de-lys shape, the veins on the hafts, the fragrance, and best of all the display in the garden and I hope these characteristics will be passed on to its children.
Alcazar has 5 blooms on each stalk open today (November 13), but these are the last as there is only one unopened bud left. Each stalk has 5 branches (2 lowest branches also have 'sub-branches' so have 2 bloom points on each of these branches); total bud count was at least 18 per stalk.
