Just a walk around my yard It has been over 20 years since I got my first iris from Schreiner's Garden.
The Iris takes its name from the Greek word for a rainbow, which is also the name for the Greek goddess of the rainbow, Iris.
Dedicated to Matthew Bowers.

Matthew was a beautiful young man who died nine years ago today.
he was the treasured son of my cousin Helen and her husband Peter .
This bloomed outside "Arco Iris" (the house in Spain where Matt is remembered) right on cue. We didn't even know it was growing there.
I saw a bush full of these irises as I was taking a walk yesterday evening around sunset. I thought to just bring the camera along as I took my walk. I am glad to have taken that decision to do so. I captured many blooms along the journey. People seem to be quite fond of the irises here. I even captured yellow bearded irises. I am learning to take my camera everywhere with me because I just never know the one rare moment to be snapped and saved. Though others will say that everything does not need to be snapped, but for the love, I capture because you can look back and remember the day.
