My mom has some great irises in her flower beds, I love photographing them every year

One of my favourite irises and only the second one to bloom this year out of nearly 10 plants :(

This is a really lame image, but it shows that the petals are basically gone ("obsolete"), unlike most irises. The big beautiful floppy blue things are the sepals. The bee here was very active (YES, a busy bee...) thrusting him(her?)self deep between the sepal and the inner surface of the style. Of course there is an anther down in there being ravaged.
