Oststadt had dozens of fleamarkets in the courtyards. A great chance to get too see all these normally hidden views.

The driver of one of the diggers stopped another from driving off until I had finished sketching his digger! He also asked me if he could start working when I finished!

Ink drawing made by snow and trees

I was overwhelmed what to draw in this amazing place. In which direction to look and what to leave out and emphasise. I also wanted to do as many sketches as possible to make the most of the trip, putting pressure on myself.

Drawn with Karlsruhe, Mannheim and Saarland Urban Sketchers.

Just managed to squeeze this in before the tower closed.

Drawn to the sound of Turkish music coming from a parked car.

At the top there was also a mysterious 60 cm high door.

Drawn with a thicker pen than usual.

Drawn in car to keep show off my sketchbook. The window was only opened 20 cm, but that was still enough to get snow on my sketchbook.

I think you call this a sports bar. There were 7 more screens behind me and 13 more outside!

The first snowfall of last week still lingers in certain parts of the Ottawa-Gatineau. While the streets and sidewalks have been snow-free for a while, lawns seem to have kept a thin crust of the white stuff to remind us that winter approaches. While waiting during my wife's appointment, I parked in downtown Ottawa and sketched MacDonald Gardens Park - a park with a pavilion on top of a hill. It was quiet. In a strange sort of way, the autumn cold kept most strollers away but the winter cold and deep snow had yet to arrive and attract the tobboganers on the hill!
