There he sat, by the overpass bridge, leaning against the light signal post. Beard untrimmed and clothes very worn but he was not dirty. Always looking at the ground instead of the passerbys. The cardboard sign in hand had the word 'HUNGRY" scribbled on it......right below that were two more words..."SEMPER FI". What I did next, when I got beside him at the stop light, is my business....He was a Vietnam Vet.
This had to be done with and ink pen and in my moleskine book...NFS. I couldn't get his face out of my head til I put it in the book...with honor.

Incredible experience sat underneath this pier in a gale with 3 m waves thundering onto beach and the swish of shingle. Salt spray slowly fogged up my glasses. A passing metal detectorist said to be carefull, the tide was coming in. I had to move up the beach and the perspective changed. I was surrounded by sheltering seabirds.
Drawn to the sound of aircraft and a pedestrian crossing alarm. I kept having to blow off the dirt settling on my sketchbook.
Natsu spent time collecting sticks outdoors in the garden during outdoor play. Each day, he would hand me a bundle of sticks suggestively to indicate his interest in using them for the class artwork. He was interested in painting them to add to the colourful canvas (scroll back to 098/365).
This week we have begun to try something different - using feathers to draw with ink. The children tentatively dipped the feathers in the ink pot and began to test them out to see how they could form marks. Natsu took his drawing to the next level filling this large A1 sheet. The ink flowed as the feather tip formed these fluid, considered lines. At the end, Natsu decided he had drawn "a fish".
These were fenced in domesticated geese. The wild ones would have flown off as soon as I’d sit down to sketch.
Good that I had to stop at this point as my train was coming, the sketch may have been overworked if I had more time.
On Sunday 12th August I’ll be showing and selling my work along with other designers at Hirchhof Fest in Karlsruhe.

Cats in SOCKS! ...because fuzzy sock weather has arrived!

I tried to draw the gardeners and mini 3-wheeler van at a discrete distance but close enough to see enough detail. Just about managed it but the angle isn’t ideal. I wanted to show that the men were bigger than the van. They also wore the same colours in the same places as the van!

A trip to the rubbish dump involved waiting in a queue of 35 cars so I was forced to draw something.
The vicar welcomed me and asked how I’m coping with brexit in Germany. He said he unfortunately hasn’t got any continental relatives so has to stick with only his British passport.
