A local had a look at the sketch and said he couldn't draw but had to when studying botany, but plants are harder to notice when they're wrong compared to buildings. He said I have to draw the porch on this house. I told him I didn't intend to but I did in the end, he was right, it looks better for it.

Its quite a thrill to dig up pieces of pottery that date back 6000 years. This is what a group of volunteers under the direction of archaeologist, Ian Badgley, are doing now along the shoreline of the Ottawa River in the Leamy Lake Park. The dig has been organized during the month of August for several years now. Its slow work under a hot sun but some of the results have been encouraging.

C’est ce que fait actuellement un groupe de benévoles sous la direction de l’archéologue Ian Badgley, le long du littoral de la rivière des Outaouais, dans le parc du lac Leamy. La fouille a été organisée au cours du mois d'août depuis plusieurs années. C'est du travail lent sous un chaud soleil.

Luckily, the baby slept and the women didn't move until I finished the sketch. The dog didn’t keep still though. His head is made up.

Someone came up to me to see what I was sketching. He was a bit puzzled that I had my back to the medieval cathedral that all the tourists were photographing. I told him that the cathedral was too complicated.

I've sketched along this promenade in Gatineau Point several times over the years. The views of the Ottawa River are great and there are plenty of places with benches that allow you to stop and enjoy the scenery.

J'ai dessiné plusieurs fois le long de cette promenade à Pointe Gatineau au fil des années. Les vues sur la rivière des Outaouais sont superbes et il y a plein d'endroits avec des bancs qui vous permettent de vous arrêter et de profiter du paysage.

The museum director let me stay sketching, even after the museum had closed.

As I was sat sketching this view, a passing walker said that looks like pure bliss.

He was right.
