This series of images began when I was captivated by some of the "Illustrative" techniques used by Richard Gregory. Richard kindly gave me some tips and here are some experimental images based on the Bruges Canal shot which I posted yesterday. Thanks, Richard. None of them look like yours but I did get one quite close for a while. Then I became interested in getting an engraving type effect, mono and tinted. These are the three results. Thanks again, RichardGregory48.

"And I sang Dixie, as he died

But people just walked on by, as I cried

The bottle had robbed him, of all his rebel pride

So I sang Dixie, as he died

He said listen to me son while you still can, run back home to that Southern land

Don't you see, what life here has done to me

Then he closed those old blue eyes, and fell limp, against my side

No more pain, and now he's safe back home in Dixie..."

Loads of locals came up for a chat while I sketched this. My pen started drawing with 3 times it’s usual thickness for some reason.

I tried to capture that it was chocca in there. It doesn’t really look that full in the sketch though.

A man was sitting on the steps but he left after I started sketching him.

Private security man came over, this time to look at the sketch. Drawn to the smell of cut steel!

Drawn with the Karlsruhe Urban Sketchers. These people weren’t on the escalator at the same time. It was a real challenge to get the people drawn in time.

It started raining as I drew so I moved underneath this massive roof. I kept drawing the original perspective as if I was still in my original spot. It’s a pretty inaccurate sketch.

This is too inaccurate for me. I was standing in a non 2 m social distancing spot, which stressed me a bit.
