Aquarelle encre collage

One young lad came up and said the sketch needed a fat belly! So I let him draw one, but in the back of my sketchbook.

My drawing using ink pens and pastels.

A traditional wooden Rhine boat and a modern fibreglass one.

Drawn sheltering from the rain under a shed roof. The tractor was painted red but the lichen was green!

Loads of locals came up for a chat while I sketched this. My pen started drawing with 3 times it’s usual thickness for some reason.

Drawing too much timber framing is bad for the hand.

Drawn with the Karlsruhe Urban Sketchers. These people weren’t on the escalator at the same time. It was a real challenge to get the people drawn in time.

I originally wanted to sketch more of the cars which were dominating the village, but my wife was waiting for me and started fidgiting. While I was drawing this, a woman came up to comment on the sketch and ask where I lived. When I said “Germany”, she said why am I in the Lake District when Germany is so beautiful.

This building really is this wobbly.

A passing local liked the sketch and added that he couldn’t draw a straight line with a ruler.

I’m exhibiting some of my work at this gallery in Karlsruhe:

Drawn to the sound of techno for a Berghain feeling!

Time and place diffuses, how did I get here, how will I get out again?

Brewery Creek encircles downtown Gatineau (Hull sector) and has many lovely vistas as it makes its way along parklands. The creek is very lively at this time of year when its water level is high. Recently when I was cycling near the Lac Leamy Park I noticed this view of the creek as it made a nice turn among some shrubbery and weeds. I took a photo and later sketched it in my new Leuchttrum1917 sketchbook.

I tried to capture that it was chocca in there. It doesn’t really look that full in the sketch though.

A friend was being transferred to a city with a notable crime record - this was back in the 1980s ... I had done a simple cartoon but they liked it so much, they asked for a whole story! Once I got going it was too much fun, so kept it up until I ran out of ink! Instead of hiding it, they framed it!

It started raining as I drew so I moved underneath this massive roof. I kept drawing the original perspective as if I was still in my original spot. It’s a pretty inaccurate sketch.

This is too inaccurate for me. I was standing in a non 2 m social distancing spot, which stressed me a bit.
