It started raining as I drew so I moved underneath this massive roof. I kept drawing the original perspective as if I was still in my original spot. It’s a pretty inaccurate sketch.
This was the opening of Karlsruhe’s Underground. There were loads of people around. I waited a while to find space in the crowds for this sketch.
Many thanks to the museum to open up just for the Karlsruhe Urban Sketchers!

This building really is this wobbly.
A passing local liked the sketch and added that he couldn’t draw a straight line with a ruler.
I’m exhibiting some of my work at this gallery in Karlsruhe:
I’ll be at Lametta in Karlsruhe, pop round for a chat:
Geöffnet am Freitag, den 8. Dezember von 15 bis 22 Uhr und Samstag, den 9. Dezember von 12 bis 20 Uhr.
I was filmed for a TV programme drawing this. They filmed a time lapse of the sketch. To keep the sketchpad still, I was resting it on a stool and it was very uncomfortable and it’s a bit rushed and inaccurate. I hope the viewers don’t notice.
Brewery Creek encircles downtown Gatineau (Hull sector) and has many lovely vistas as it makes its way along parklands. The creek is very lively at this time of year when its water level is high. Recently when I was cycling near the Lac Leamy Park I noticed this view of the creek as it made a nice turn among some shrubbery and weeds. I took a photo and later sketched it in my new Leuchttrum1917 sketchbook.
a cat and flowers in the midday
the cat is sleeping in the sunlight
sound under the roof
a shadow fell on the bundle
of flowers left
on the ground of 4th avenue
time just passes the midday
and the shadows all coming out from the corners
in the daydream
there are many cats
in frames hanging
on the wall
and the yard
the light is so dazzling
if someone now
shouts OUT:
we DO NOT need Literature and Poetry
then, Die
right away

Today while I was waiting for the garage to install my new winter tires, I took a walk down to the Ottawa River. It was a pleasant day for a leisurely walk with a temperature of 15 C and a near cloudless sky. I brought along a small sketchbook and found a good spot to spend almost two hours of drawing. I've sketched here on other occasions and have always enjoyed the view. From my vantage point, I could see a small lookout over the water which is named Quai Belle Isle (that was once the name of Kettle Island which is directly across the river). Further in the background you can see the ONEC boat house and downtown Gatineau.
Testing out a some different brush techniques. Mostly dry brush.
I don't normally sell my originals...but people have been asking so here's one for sale.

I was invited to sketch in the shop for a couple of hours. This is the owner, Sebastian, in different positions. He had to keep still for me!
We’re walking around the sketching scenes and streets of Oststadt in Karlsruhe tomorrow from 6pm starting at the Cemetery Info Center, if anyone wants to join us:
When I heard that this building may be demolished, I rushed out to sketch it. It’s listed but this doesn’t always means much in Karlsruhe.
