The tower includes elements of traditional Islamic architecture and southwestern Asian design. Elizabeth Lambourn's Islam Beyond Empires: Mosques and Islamic Landscapes in India and the Indian Ocean studies the introduction of Islam in South Asia and how the region influenced the Islamic religious architecture. These newly arrived Muslims from the Islamic West escaped the Mongol Empire and emigrated to India, where they constructed religious centers. The Qutb Minar serves as a central marker to these new Muslim communities as well as being a reminder of Islam's presence in the area. The architecture of the minaret varies greatly from that of the typical style and design of the mosques constructed in the Middle East. The style of these structures is influenced by the local architecture such as the Indic temples. This affected the different materials, techniques, and decoration that were used in the construction of the Qutb Minar.
Historically, tower minarets were uncommon in South Asian-Islamic design until the 17th century, due to the slow adoption of the typical Middle Eastern style in India. It is also detached from the main mosque, showcasing how the native culture affected the design of a Middle Eastern structure. The Qutb Minar is seen as the "earliest and best example of a fusion or synthesis of Hindu-Muslim traditions" according to Ved Parkash in his essay The Qutb Minar from Contemporary and Near Contemporary Sources. Like many mosques built in South Asia during this time period, the minaret was constructed by Hindu laborers and craftsmen but overseen by Muslim architects. This led to a construction that synthesized both Hindu and Islamic religious architecture. Since some of the craftsmen were Hindu and unfamiliar with the Quran, the inscriptions are a compilation of disarranged Quranic texts and other Arabic expressions.

Located at 2445 Lakeshore Rd W, the square was created as an amenity for the district by The Village property owner and is now managed by the Town of Oakville.
The space is bookable for events and activations (think outdoor markets, fitness classes, holiday-themed activities, live music – the possibilities are endless!) and will be dressed to impress with colourful hanging baskets and planters soon.
Bronte Market Square also functions as a resting and gathering space and for improving connectivity and pedestrian access to local businesses. Its infrastructure includes seating areas, access to electrical power and a water feature.
Lido Sands was once a popular tourist attraction when everyone wanted to visit Margate beach for the summer holidays, but since a storm in the 70’s it has not recovered. As well as the Lido sands and baths it includes a grand hall and some smaller function rooms which were used for the "sedction" raves as well as other events.

Pacman Nebula - NGC 281

NGC 281 is a busy workshop of star formation. Prominent features include a small open cluster of stars, a diffuse red-glowing emission nebula, large lanes of obscuring gas and dust, and dense knots of dust and gas in which stars may still be forming. The open cluster of stars IC 1590 visible around the center has formed only in the last few million years. The brightest member of this cluster is actually a multiple-star system shining light that helps ionize the nebula's gas, causing the red glow visible throughout. The lanes of dust visible left of center are likely homes of future star formation. Particularly striking in the above photograph are the dark Bok globules visible against the bright nebula. The NGC 281 system, dubbed the Pacman nebula for its overall shape, lies about 10 thousand light years distant.

Krafla includes one of the two best-known Víti craters of Iceland (the other is in Askja). The Icelandic word "víti" means "hell". In former times, people often believed hell to be under volcanoes. The crater Víti has a green lake inside of it.
The Mývatn fires occurred between 1724–29, when many of the fissure vents opened up. The lava fountains could be seen in the south of the island and a lava flow destroyed three farms.
Between 1975 and 1984 there was a volcanic episode within the Krafla volcano. It involved nine volcanic eruptions and fifteen uplift and subsidence events. This interrupted some of the Krafla drillfields. During these events a large magma chamber emerged.

Fashion for Life is the kickoff mega event for Relay for Life of Second life relay season. Relay for Life of Second life is a fundraising event based in Second Life that benefits the American Cancer Society. It is modeled after real life Relay's for Life and our season ends the same way with a 24 hour relay walk around a track that (in sl) is created by sim builders with campsites decorated by individual teams. The first Relay for Life of Second Life was in 2005 and since then we have raised more that $2.5 million dollars. This is my third year relaying and I am part of team Cherubs for a Cure. A group of trees in a field on the edge of Etchingham village that has been photographed by me many times at different seasons.
This is my Treasure Hunt monthly project, I will follow the life of these trees through the year with a monthly photo.
