When our friends suggested a trek through Cliff Gilker Park, we set out on a new adventure. It was a marvellous walk, and an opportunity to see an area new to us. During our adventure I took plenty of preliminary, recon shots with my phone, to record areas of interest. I would later return with my camera and equipment to then take the shots I wanted with the time necessary to set up.

The next number of photos will be from this wonderful place. It is deep with old growth trees, meanders through a maze of delight, and makes one stop to just look. This shot includes one of the few bridges that cross various gorges, and serves as a metaphor that "bridges" the old with this new journey.

Normally I don't include people in 99% of my photos as i do a lot of long exposure or wait till they are gone, but in this sceen I decided to keep them in the image in order to show a little perspective on how tall this waterfall really is. Can you find all 18 tourists? Seljalandsfoss is one of the best known waterfalls in Iceland and is located in the South Region in Iceland along Route 1. The waterfall drops 60 m (197 ft) and is part of the Seljalands River that has its origin in the volcano glacier Eyjafjallajökull. One of the interesting things that I liked about this waterfall is you can walk behind it. I just wish the weather would have been a little better as it rained the whole time we were there and it was a challenge to keep the lens clean.

De Zalmhaven, also referred to as Zalmhaven Toren, is a project that includes a 215m residential tower in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Other parts of the project are two buildings of 70m each. The project was approved by the city in February 2010.

The 215m high residential tower houses 295 apartments and a parking garage. The tower and a second office building are designed by Dam & Partner architects, with Claus en Kaan Architecten designing a residential unit it is one of the tallest residential towers in Europe and the tallest building in the Netherlands.

In September 2016, the Rotterdam city council approved the plan. After fifteen years of preparation, construction started on 25 October 2018. With Zalmhaven I, the Zalmhaven has a height of 215 meters. The building itself is 203 m and the mast takes up the last 12 m.

On December 15, 2020, the construction of Zalmhaven II and III reached the highest point. Zalmhaven I reached its highest point in September 2021 and the entire project is completed in 2022.

De Zalmhaven contains 452 apartments and penthouses, 33 townhouses, a parking garage, offices, commercial spaces and a restaurant. The townhouses have a private roof terrace and the apartments and penthouses all have one or more outdoor spaces. The basement accommodates a five-story parking garage with 456 spaces. An inner garden will be realized in the lobby. A roof garden will be realised on the parking garage that is only accessible to the residents of De Zalmhaven. The apartments and penthouses in De Zalmhaven II and III have their own entrance at Gedempte Zalmhaven, but residents also use the facilities in De Zalmhaven I.

Castle Hill Graffiti Park (2011-2019), Austin, Texas by Randy von Liski

Graffiti artists at the HOPE Outdoor Gallery on Castle Hill, a graffiti park that was located from 2011 to 2019 at Baylor and 11th St. on the site of a failed condo development project from the Eighties. A new condo project in booming Austin resulted in closure of the site in 2019.

Austin's graffiti artists will have a new, much larger site at which to express themselves in early 2022. Under construction now (July 2021) is a new HOPE Outdoor Gallery graffiti park, located in East Austin across from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The 17-acre, open-air art park will include large scale public art installations, curated audio and art exhibitions, murals from local, national, and international artists.

With a population of just over one million residents, Austin is the 10th largest city in the United States. The Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos Metropolitan Area, now with a population of 2.3M, also is the fastest growing large metropolitan area in the country having added more than 579,000 residents since 2010.

The town of Czarnków is located on the Noteć river, on the edge of the Noteć Forest and the edge of the moraine plateau. The location of the city creates picturesque landscapes, which extend from the moraine donations above the city. On one of the hills, a viewpoint of the city and the Noteć river valley was created.

The city currently has about 11 000 residents.

The most valuable monuments in Czarnków include the St. Magdalena from the 14th century, the urban layout of the city and the town hall from the 19th century.

Miasto Czarnków położone jest nad rzeką Noteć, na skraju Puszczy Noteckiej i krawędzi wysoczyzny morenowej. Położenie miasta tworzy malownicze krajobrazy, które rozciągają się ze wniesień morenowych nad miastem. Na jednym ze wzgórz utworzono punkt widokowy na miasto i dolinę rzeki Noteć.

Miasto liczy obecnie około 11 tys. mieszkańców.

Do najcenniejszych zabytków w Czarnkowie należy kościół sw. Magdaleny z XIV w., układ urbanistyczny miasta oraz ratusz z XIX wieku.

After my wife, my passions include photography, travel and finally food & drink whether that is eating it or preparing it I love making or eating something that has come together to be a greater end product than the ingredients that went into it, I guess that is a common theme throughout all my passions not just food. One of the problems of travel photography is that you are always battling conditions with no possibility of reshoots as is the case with Venosa which I have no post worthy pictures of due to the best of conditions (sunny and bright) and an extremely busy market day. What I can say about Venosa is do have lunch at D'Avalos Ristorante Pizzeria just to the right of the Duomo down a little alleyway you will not be disappointed except for the fact like all pizzeria’s you cannot get pizza for lunch.

Pictured here is Forenza an unassuming little hill town that receives very little tourists in a region that has little tourism to begin with so when strangers arrive the Nonno’s come out of the woodwork to assess and gossip about who exactly they are and which family they belong to. Such was the case when we arrived and took up residence in the main piazza at a table in the park across from the main bar, where we proceeded to enjoy a very chill bottle of prosecco while being circled by roaming Nonno’s trying to act nonchalant as they did so. Finally when they could no longer contain their curiosity they sent the bravest gentlemen to our table to ask what we were doing there and whom we were visiting to which we explained we were travelers and seeing all of Basilicata, he grinned proud of his town and region, we spent the next hour hearing about what we should see and do.

Forenza is located in a central spot off the beaten track making it a good base for those less nomadic exploring Basilicata, the charming narrow streets and the views from its lofty perch make it a destination worth stopping for. Forenza is ancient and full of history it was brought into the Roman fold in 317 BC and remained so until destroyed during the Gothic wars in the mid-6th century AD passing into Byzantine hands until the Lombard’s took it over several centuries later. For all of its history the most remembered is that in the 11th century the then ruling Norman’s gifted the town to the Pagani family the founders of the Order of the Knights Templar who held it until that fateful Friday the 13th in October 1307, to this day they still have a historical parade celebrating the knights every Aug.

On the first Saturday in September, International Vulture Awareness Day recognizes the dwindling numbers of vultures. The day not only raises awareness about vulture numbers, but it educates the public, too. Vultures play an essential role in the ecological health of the environment.

These scavengers play a vital role in the food chain. Vultures act as nature’s garbage disposers. When they devour carcasses quickly, vultures keep the environment clean. They also help keep it free of contagious diseases.

Another role vultures play is aiding in catching poachers. When poachers illegally kill animals, they leave the carcass behind. After vultures find the carcass, they circle above the dead animal. This behavior leads authorities to the poached animals.

Because vultures aid authorities, many people kill the birds. After collecting the skins or other prizes, the poachers poison the remaining carcass. Consequently, poisoned vultures then become deadly to other scavengers.

Many species of vultures are considered endangered. Of the 23 species, 16 of them are considered endangered, vulnerable, or threatened.

The hooded vulture (Necrosyrtes monachus) is an Old World vulture in the order Accipitriformes, which also includes eagles, kites, buzzards and hawks. It is the only member of the genus Necrosyrtes, which is sister to the larger Gyps genus, both of which are a part of the Aegypiinae subfamily of Old World vultures.

Leopards are the smallest of the large cats (to include lions, tigers, and jaguars) and are the most widespread, with subspecies found in Africa and Asia. The profusion of spots helps leopards hide from their prey, breaking up their body outline in forests or grasslands.

Although a powerful and clever hunter, leopards are not always at the top of the food chain. In Africa, lions and packs of hyenas or painted dogs can kill leopards; in Asia, a tiger can do the same. Leopards go to great lengths to avoid these predators, hunting at different times and often pursing different prey than their competitors, and resting in trees to keep from being noticed.

Unlike most cats, leopards are strong swimmers and are one of the few cats that like water, although they are not as aquatic as tigers. They are great athletes, able to run in bursts up to 36 miles an hour (58 kilometers per hour), leap 20 feet (6 meters) forward in a single bound, and jump ten feet (3 meters) straight up.

Leopards have incredible strength and can climb as high as 50 feet (15 meters) up a favorite tree while holding a fresh kill in its mouth, even one larger and heavier than themselves! They stash food up high so other predators such as lions or hyenas can’t get it. This way, leopards can return to eat more at a later time. One leopard was spotted dragging a 220-pound (100 kilograms) young giraffe into heavy brush to hide it. Leopards are usually nocturnal, resting by day and hunting at night.

Stories from both Africa and Asia tell of the leopard’s ability to enter a village and snatch a sleeping dog without being detected. The leopard is a champion hunter and has a variety of stealth attacks that catch its prey off guard. From dropping on prey out of trees to stalking prey at waterholes or in dry grasses, often slinking along on the belly, a leopard doesn’t have a predictable pattern to hunting.
