The Palcho Monastery or Pelkor Chode Monastery or Shekar Gyantse is the main monastery in Gyantse, Gyantse County, Shigatse Prefecture, Tibet, China in the Nyangchu river valley. The monastery precinct is a complex of structures, which, apart from the Tsuklakhang Monastery, also includes its Kumbum, believed to be the largest such structure in Tibet, that is most notable for its 108 chapels in its several floors and the old Dzong or fort.
Australian crows and ravens are challenging to identify; concentrate on call, throat-hackles, behavior, and location. Calls include fairly short, repeated “ah-ah-ah” and a unique rattling croaking. Throat hackles can look impressive, leading to confusion with ravens. Inhabits many habitats in northern two-thirds of Australia and in New Guinea. Australian members of the Corvid family seem much shyer than their counterparts elsewhere, which makes them doubly difficult to photograph. This Torresian Crow was chasing something through the underbrush and I managed to get one in-focus shot before he was gone again.

Larger that the Green Bottle Fly and found common in many continents which include Europe, Americas and Africa, also a species of blow fly. Adults will tend to feed on nectar and females will deposit their eggs on rotten corpses and this is why they make important forensic insects as their eggs and the timing of oviposition can be used to help estimate time of death. The name Bluebottle is an old name that is shared with the Portuguese Man-O-War and certain blue flowers.

Between 8 1/2 to 11 3/4 inches in length. Reddish brown above with a white belly. 1 white stripe bordered by 2 black stripes on sides ending at the rump. 2 white stripes on back nuch thinner than side stripes. Dark center stripe down the back. Pale facial stripes above and below the eyes. Tail brown on tip and edged with black. Prominent ears.
The Eastern Chipmunk's habitat includes open deciduous woodlands, forest edges, brushy areas, bushes and stone walls in cemeteries and around houses.
They range from southeastern Canada and the north-eastern U.S. east from North Dakota and eastern Oklahoma and south to Missisippi, northwest Carolina and Virginia.

The Monarch is a milkweed butterfly. Other common names depending on region include milkweed, common tiger, wanderer, and black veined brown. It may be the most familiar North American butterfly. The eastern North American monarch population is notable for its annual southward late-summer/autumn migration from the northern and central United States and southern Canada to Florida and Mexico. During the fall migration, monarchs cover thousands of miles, with a corresponding multi-generational return north.
The western North American population of monarchs west of the Rocky Mountains often migrates to sites in southern California but has been found in overwintering Mexican sites as well.

Scotch Pond consists of a pond, originally a slough, dredged in the early 1950s and connected by a channel to the Strait of Georgia. Along with the pond are the remains of wooden boardwalk pilings which run directly along the south edge of the pond and were constructed in 1899 as part of the Scottish Canadian Cannery operation.

The park includes approximately 768 lakes in an area of 70,533 acres. It is one of the most important water sources in Cuenca and Ecuador. It has gained international prominence in several categories:

What is an Andean forest?
At this moment, I am surrounded by an Andean forest, also known as cloud forest due to the high humidity in this place. I could find them along the high Andean mountains. In Cajas Massif, these forests are located between 1,000 and 3,600 meters a.s.l. While I hiked on this trail, I witnessed the importance of caring for this forest.

Nothing in a society stays the same and that includes the economy. Factories close, people lose their jobs, brands disappear......
One such disappeared icon in the automobile industry was the Belgian top brand "Minerva". which began producing automobiles in 1904.
This brand was named after the Roman goddess Minerva, the goddess of wisdom and arts, and her image adorned every radiator cap on the Minervas as a small work of art.
Many Minervas were soon exported to England with which heads of state and others famous people were transported.
The brand became increasingly popular with the wealthy part of the world's population, and many members of the royal houses of Romania, Thailand and India, among others, drove them.
Over time, the automobiles were also exported to America and Australia and were a huge succes in these countries.
Thus, even the American car manufacturer Henri Ford drove around in a Minerva because of its famous "Sleeve Valva System" of the Minerva's engines.
This engine system was executed without the conventional valve system.
This system made it possible to significantly reduce the excessive noise produced by the conventional engines of the time.
Minerva automobiles were a very formidable competitor to Rolls Royce, Isotta-Franchine, Hispano-Suiza and Duesenburg, the other greats of this period.
However, the great Belgian automobile brand Minerva did not survive the Great economic crisis of 1930 and went bankrupt in 1934.....
The automobile in the photo is the 1921 Minerva 00-Tourer with a Van der Plas bodywork and was very popular with the world's wealthy population and this model was driven privately by Henri Ford.
The engine was equipped with a 6 inline cylinders and had a capacity of 5.355 cc and an output pf 30 HP and of course it is equipped with the "Sleeve Valve System".
The "Sleeve Valve System" is a four-stroke engine that does not use inlet and exhaust valves and a camshaft, but sliding or rotating shutoff slide in the cylinder wall.
Therefor , the great advantage of this system is undoubtedly its noiseless operation.
However, there are also disadvantages to it and this concerns that it needs a complicated construction and has less direct cooling.
A still working example with a complete original engine is very, very rare and is one of the most sought after examples for colectors.

The Sawtooth National Recreation Area (Sawtooth NRA) consists of 756,000 acres of scenic mountain country and includes over 700 miles of trails, 40 peaks rising over 10,000 feet and more than 300 high mountain lakes that add to the spectacular scenery and vistas. This striking mountain landscape was a favorite playground of Ernest Hemingway, who is buried in nearby Ketchum.

Kaziranga is a vast expanse of tall elephant grass, marshland, and dense tropical moist broadleaf forests, criss-crossed by four major rivers, including the Brahmaputra, and the park includes numerous small bodies of water. Kaziranga has been the theme of several books, songs, and documentaries. The park celebrated its centennial in 2005 after its establishment in 1905 as a reserve forest. (Wikipedia)

Activities include a four to five-hour hike around the caldera (whose diameter is just over 3 km). The caldera rim is highly irregular and reaches its maximum elevations (3,885 meters to the N, 3894 meters to the NW and 3,915 meters to the SE) at three lava domes. The 10 km hike is sandy and steep in places and can be quite taxing, particularly if there is fog.
It's a half-hour hike down from the viewpoint (and 1-2 hour hike back up the 280-meter vertical ascent), and very basic lodging down in its bowl. Camping is permitted at the bottom of the crater, but there is no potable water.
The lake surface is located at 3,500 meters above sea level. The total volume of water stored in Lake Quilotoa is 0.35 km3. According to local inhabitants, the lake level has been slowly declining over the last 10 years. Travertine deposits occur along the shore up to 10 m above the lake level (in the year 2000).
The Alcarria is a Spanish natural region located in the South Sub-region, which includes most of the center and south of the province of Guadalajara, the northwest of the province of Cuenca and the southeast of the province of Madrid.
Geographically it is formed by a tabular relief crowned by the structural surface of the limestone wasteland that is continuously cut from north to south by rivers and streams that form narrow glacis and loamy slopes and deep fertile valleys. This generates a geomorphology that produces a remarkable contrast between the holm oaks and the rain-fed agriculture of the páramo, and the small orchards, the olive groves and the aromatic herbs of the slopes and valleys.
Precisely, the abundance of aromatic plants such as rosemary, thyme, lavender or lavender make it possible beekeeping which results in the honey of the Alcarria. Other products given in the region are the Alcarreña lamb, the Alcarria oil and the Mondéjar and Sacedón and Arganda designation wines.

La Alcarria es una comarca natural española situada en la Submeseta Sur, que comprende la mayor parte del centro y sur de la provincia de Guadalajara, el noroeste de la provincia de Cuenca y el sureste de la provincia de Madrid.
Geográficamente está formada por un relieve tabular coronado por la superficie estructural del páramo calizo que se ve continuamente cortado de norte a sur por ríos y arroyos que forman angostos glacis y cuestas margosos y profundos valles fértiles. Esto genera una geomorfología que produce un notable contraste entre los encinares y la agricultura de secano del páramo, y las pequeñas huertas, los olivares y las hierbas aromáticas de las cuestas y valles.
Precisamente, la abundancia de plantas aromáticas como el romero, el tomillo, el espliego o lavanda hacen posible la apicultura de la que resulta la miel de la Alcarria. Otros productos dados en la comarca son el cordero de raza alcarreña, el aceite de la Alcarria y los vinos de denominación de origen de Mondéjar y Sacedón y Arganda.
El paisaje antropogenizado de la Alcarria ha sido marco contextual de varias obras literarias célebres, entre las que destaca fundamentalmente Viaje a la Alcarria de Camilo José Cela.(Fuente Wikipedia)

Male flame skimmers are known for their entirely red or dark orange body, this includes eyes, legs, and even wing veins. Females are usually a medium or darker brown with some thin, yellow markings. Due to its choice habitat of warm ponds, streams, or hot springs, flame skimmers are found mainly in the southwestern part of the United States.
